Probably depends on which side of the imbalance you are on? If you ARE the imbalance, you are always on the wrong side, right?

    Extended-hours trading on ATS

Finra TRF? Internalized by brokers. If you send order to IB smart route, the order may never get to lit exchange. I think it's just a way to explicitly indicate that the order was not under protection.

    Extended-hours trading on ATS

What tells you these are ISO trades? The sales condition in time and sales should be pre/post market. Some exchanges like Nasdaq are open ore/post and most of the volume should be traded there (not dark pools). Can't be enforced because not all exchanges are participating.

Is IB the cheapest broker for larger investors trading frequently?

Hm, I wish you didn't go there, Mike. Are you saying HFTs have no "best execution" obligation? Who are these mysterious non-hft "venues" you swear by? Will my resting orders go directly to the National Exchanges no matter how far away I place them?

Is IB the cheapest broker for larger investors trading frequently?

You are making an assumption that if the broker charges you commissions, they will not also try to make money on your order? What is important to your TRADING? How do you quantify/measure that? That's all that needs to be answered. Obviously, I am talking about RegNMS securities only.

Is IB the cheapest broker for larger investors trading frequently?

Guys, can you stop this interrogation silliness! Open account with TradeZero and open account with IB. Send orders and see how fast you get filled and with what slippage. That is all that matters. How they make their money should be irrelevant to you. Keep your eyes on the ball.

Day Trading Options is a bad idea. Anyone else?

I like all your answers ... their are very generous :) Thanks! P.S. When you said you had a programmer code this strategy and his/her reward was "fully understanding the system," I was like ... wow this guy must be very good salesman. LOL. Good for you.

Day Trading Options is a bad idea. Anyone else?

Thanks for sharing! One question that came up when I was reading your thread was - well if he puts out limit orders to enter position away from the market, how many trades are being "missed?" Then I thought that maybe "missing" these is the reason for high win ratio in the first place. Sorry...

Day Trading Options is a bad idea. Anyone else?

@jeffalvinson, it just so happened I was reading your "Mechanical Trading" threads yesterday. Very interesting. What are your thoughts on not using stops at all(or having wider stops than targets)? Have you tried to back test is without(or wider) stops. If I understood it correctly, your...

Day Trading Options is a bad idea. Anyone else?

Also, the further out of the money your option gets, the less volume trades and you are at the mercy of MM. The volatility of individual options makes risk control very unreliable, so might as well position size for 100% loss. This is from someone with very limited experience.

    Command-and-control bot

I have a very primitive program that uses cgi library running on the server. This way I can connect from any browser(including mobile) to monitor and/or send commands. It's far from optimal, but not something I'm willing to spend lots of energy on. I choose the port and since it's not standard...

Sorry, what do you mean? You have algos running and you want to start/stop/modify them? You are using so much new (to me anyway) technology that my head is spinning :)

Is IB the cheapest broker for larger investors trading frequently?

What? I don't think Robinhood has this type of restriction. @Tradezero_Randy, what happens when my order was a penny below when I sent it but became a match one when it arrived to you? Do you have an option to cancel it back or slide it?

Not a bad way to swing with options

Yes, but TA is not rule based - very subjective. That's not correct. He was buying calls with the premiums he collected on selling puts. The strike of the short puts coincided with technical support levels at which he would not mind to get assigned. So after a big sell off, he was looking...

Not a bad way to swing with options

Thanks, @Global OptionsTrades. I am not understanding ... Your trading is TA based and is automated enough to be back tested?
