I can't post any details because they're Top Secret and I'd lose my edge.

I don't use volume either, mainly because I have no idea what to use it for or how to use it.

The patterns are in front of you on any chart, and in books, but you have to learn to recognize them at the hard right edge in real time and you have to have a plan for taking advantage of favorable odds based on the pattern.

I've yet to see a historical chart anywhere where these price action patterns don't occur and produce a tradable result more often than not.

Price can only move up or down (sideways is not movement). Buyers want a good price and look for signs of price support at a key level; sellers want a good price and look for signs of price resistance at a key level. A certain pattern indicates possible support or resistance has been established...

At this time, yes. However, I plan to start a business in a few years that's totally unrelated to trading. I'm doing all the ground work for it now. It appears that it won't take as long as it took me to develop a trading plan, but you never know. :p The hard right edge is what matters...

To get those jobs you have to be qualified. (I'm not qualified for any job that pays more than about $40K a year.) Then if you get a job like that, you have to work for someone. You might have a boss, co-workers, and maybe clients/customers as well. You may not get along well with them...

That's a good feeling, when the plan is complete, thoroughly tested and it works. I believe stress comes from confusion. If you're not absolutely sure what you should be doing (buying, selling, or waiting) at any given moment, and if you aren't absolutely sure how to manage a position once...

I recommend Bob Volman's Forex Price Action Scalping for a introduction to price action concepts. Also this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=276076 And this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=220303 Both have good stuff. And...

I forged (not found) my personal holy grail of trading between the summer of 2009 and summer of 2010. It required an unbelievable amount of work (thousands of hours). It's based on simple price action concepts - support and resistance and how price reacts to those levels. It's worked...

I'd take the small loss upon violation of the thesis for the trade. I think there's misunderstanding. If there's a defined uptrend and I need to get 50 lots of oil positioned long, I would average down during the pullback phase. As a small retail trader I have no reason to average down; I simply...

For CL, I could never trade it the way I do if I was managing OPM. I'm an intraday scalper, and my method of trading it becomes more difficult above 6 lots because of issues with fills and slippage. But that's not significant size. If I managed OPM and wanted to swing CL longer term, I'd...

    1. I spoke with Oracle once or twice and I have no idea what specifically we talked about, though I imagine it had something to do with researching probabilities for a setup and learning to trade it with discipline, because that's mainly what I discuss with other traders. 2. I never took a...

    Becoming a Consistently Profitable Trader

You may understand price action, but your gambling has addicted you to random rewards, and you're not trading a plan. Willpower rarely overcomes addiction, but 12-step recovery programs have helped "hopeless" cases turn their lives around as long as the addict continues to do what works every...

    hmm.no edges in the markets

Price action footprints are one of many foundations on which to build a profitable trading system. "Nailing the pending move" implies you know what's going to happen next. Price action tactics involve waiting for the market to "tip its hand" as to what it's more likely to do next. I've...

Is counter trend trading a disease?

Once price breaks out (of something, such as a HOD/LOD or a triangle or a range) with conviction (definition of conviction should be defined for your instrument in advance, I use 8-10 ticks for CL), try this: Look at a smaller time frame for pullback bars, a bar that breaks the high/low of a...

Is counter trend trading a disease?

His book is strictly geared to FX scalping 10 pip profit with stops of 10 pips or less. He uses a 70-tick chart which I found to be nearly identical to a 1-min chart of CL during the pit session. I think the patterns (setups) he describes can be applied to other time frames because they're...
