Found the problem... checked the BIOS... noticed the memories were set at 667MHz. I raised it back up to 800MHz. The system still crashes, so I added 1 additional cycle to the CAS. It is now set at 5-5-5-15. So far so good... it has been running stable for hours.

I don't think VISTA would add speed to MultiCharts, but the Quad-Core CPU would. Because MultiCharts can assign each chart window to a CPU core. e.g. If I have 4 chart windows opened, the workload would be spread across the 4 CPU cores. At any rate, I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Intel Dual-Core E2160 is the older design. It is still a useful CPU, but I would rather go for newer design.

One of the program is MultiCharts. http://www.tssupport.com/multicharts/ (note: MultiCharts supports Vista 64 bit, but it does not need 8GB memory. For my current purpose, it does not even use more than 1GB of memory.) The other program is proprietary. It can use all the power I throw...

installing the PCI-e cards (Video and sound) was just as easy. See the arrow pointing to the lever. It holds the cards in place instead of screws ! <img src="http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1818361">

with tool-less design, installing the harddisk was a snap. A twist of the tab and the harddisk is locked in place. <img src="http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1818345">
