    Are Options FIFO?

Ok, what about this. I use my IB account to put an order in to lower the ask or raise the bid. I then use a totally seperate account (let's say my neighbors) to hit that new ask or bid. a) Is that illegal b) How would they know (investigation?) c) Don't people do this sort of...

Yes, looking at the 30 minute candles certainly confirms that I was wrong. I need to stop being so stubborn with the market.

Going down with the ship ...

So in effect, what you are saying is that I am taking a hunch and just drawing lines on the chart to prove myself correct for psychological satisfaction? Well, that might not be so far fetched, really. One of two things is going to happen early next week, and I need to make a decision...

Going down with the ship ...

I am not trying to make things hard for myself. I am not purposely trying to lose money. I am learning. Debit spreads pay for some of that time decay by cutting your profit potential. The debit spread I have with MSFT will be profitable so long as MSFT doesn't end up above $53 at expiration.

Going down with the ship ...

This is the contradiction that I'm experiencing. Every time you make a trade, you are "speculating" on where the market is going (unless your name is Michael and you are arbing off some island with a T3 connection). So, if I look at a chart and see weakness, then I make a trade based on that...

    Are Options FIFO?

Let me just clarify this so I know. There is an option with a spread of 3.60x3.80. I want to buy 5 of them at 3.70. So, I put up one contract for sale at a new ask at $3.70. I then immediately see 10 contracts available, and buy 5 of them. Is this illegal?

    Are Options FIFO?

So if I understand this correctly, this is illegal? It is illegal to put a bid or ask in just to get a better fill by pulling your bid ask and immediately hitting one of those other contracts? I'm not trying to get in trouble here -- but I thought it was a free market. I thought these were...

I still fail to see how we had horrible numbers come out and the market shook it off while saying, "whatever," and it kept going higher. Just a month or so ago, the market kept shaking off any good news while constantly going lower. However, if IBM breaks past $75, then it will break...

Going down with the ship ...

I am now starting to see the trials and tribulations of becoming a successful trader. I must stop doing this half-ass and really buckle down hard and treat it like a business. Alas, as TS Elliot once said: "We must not cease exploring, until at the end of all our exploring, we will...

Going down with the ship ...

My ability to lose money is beyond just a statistical blip -- I need to stop fighting myself and trade what I see and now what I think. It is just hard because I feel like we're still in a bear market. Apparently what I think is always wrong -- so there should be a way to make money off...

Going down with the ship ...

Well I brought up the charts on IBM and it looked like it was sitting on top of a hill -- so I figured that it looked to be going back down. I called tops and I may be wrong -- I will learn through trial and error. I currently hold PUTS on MSFT and IBM.

If the market corrects between 5% - 10% by November expirations, I'll be living the good life. If it keeps going up, I'm taking up sewing the Martha Stewart way and practicing some of her new brownie recipes.
