What is your typical timeline to exit a position?

This is the main problem with discretionary trading: too many opportunities to second-guess yourself. Mechanical trading has predetermined exit(s) and IF you have a properly backtested and profitable system, it's just insane not to follow all the entry and exit signals.

Why Do You Use Indicators That Change Values When Period Change?

And the values should be different. A current uptrend in one time frame will be a current congestion in a second time frame and a current downtrend in a third time frame. The trading action you should take is fully dependent on the time frame you're using. A worthy indicator will indicate...

Why Do You Use Indicators That Change Values When Period Change?

You're using the word ''period" in both its correct definition as the number of bars used in an indicator formula and as an incorrect synonym for time frame. No wonder you're confused. A 20-bar indicator in the 5-minute time frame will obviously use different price data than a 20-bar...

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

All the math (e.g., the Kelly formulae) says to do it the way I posted. And this guy apparently agrees:

    The Mathematics of Moving Averaging

1 - You claim to have written something about the mathematics of moving averages. 2 - You don't disclose what that something is. 3 - You ask questions I would expect from somebody who doesn't know a bloody thing about moving averages. I detect a homework troll.

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

The OP is open-ended. It didn't say to limit the responses to only psychological aspects. Perhaps this thread should be relocated to the Trading forum. It wouldn't be the first thread to start off in the wrong forum.

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

It's called money management. Specifically you should be using dynamic position sizing: decrease size during losing streaks, increase size during winning streaks. I believe acrary has covered this subject. Do a search.

What is your typical timeline to exit a position?

If you're a trend follower, you're supposed to let winnings run. There is no time limit, just ride the trend to its end. If you're RTM trading, you're supposed to have a profit target. Again, there is no time limit. What's with the obsession with time limits?

Why Do People Buy At A Top?

You're assuming he's using the word SELL to mean entering a short trade rather than the standard meaning of exiting a long trade. Retail forex has corrupted the language of trading.

Price Action Strategies All Break Down

You're confused on the meaning of discretionary. If a strategy can be coded, it is not discretionary. If it is discretionary, that means it can't be coded. At least until AI is invented.

what best indicator to use for your trading?

There are two best indicators, one for trending markets and one for chopping markets. They are both proprietary. Please provide $2M-US, payment in full up front. You're welcome!

    One or Two Systems?

If there's any chance of triggering both long and short entry signals at the same time, then you know you have a problem. But if your filters prevent this from happening then you've already achieved the separation you need.

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

I didn't hear me say that. Like dbphoenix said, we're not talking the same language. I'm sure my method isn't the only effective way to trade. But you seemed to start with the preconceived notion that those with the most money and best computers automatically have the upper hand. Money...

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

No. Yes. Money does not automatically translate into brains. Donald Trump is living proof of that. Finding trends efficiently is not public knowledge. It's anybody's game, including resource-poor retail traders.
