What's the lowest real estate agent fee you've paid on a property sale?

Curious as well. I'm getting ready to put my house up.

China: "If they're not going to do it, we're going to force them" US Senator says

What amazes me is the level of intelligence in our political system. You would think we could attract better talent to the House, Senate and PTOUS.

Competition for DeFazio in 2010- is this true?

the biggest thing that you can do if you live out of his district is write a check to his opponent. I firmly believe in politics you have to put your money where your mouth is, or quit complaining.

$1 Million Doesn't Cut It for Retirement?

$1mm is more than enough, unless you desire to continue to lead a somewhat extravagant lifestyle. As someone else pointed out, I would imagine 80%+ have FAR less than that and they seem to survive.

You're outperforming the S&P. If you can do that consistently over time, you'll be a very rich man someday.

2.5 months of data makes it impossible to say.

    Long term euro

This sounds like a rock solid plan. I would place the entire loan amount on that position though. It sounds like you may not even need to go to college at all. Just keep adding borrowed money to your winner and you'll be retired in no time.

    Krugman on Health Reform Myths

Several key factors: 1. It costs a minimum of hundreds of millions of $$ to get a drug/device approved in the US (by the FDA). Our standards of approval are light years away from Europe in terms of difficulty. This is a good thing and a bad thing. It's good because we rarely have drugs...

    Krugman on Health Reform Myths

Health Care insurers make about 3% annual profit. That is a small drop in the health care industry bucket. A much smaller percentage than litigation and defensive medicine. If all of the health insurance profits went to free health care, it would pick up the tab for a couple of weeks.

    Krugman on Health Reform Myths

No, actually anyone who is not rich, but wants to be someday, should should oppose any more governmental control of their lives. This bill does NOTHING to control costs, so watch for premiums to continue to skyrocket, along with the massive tax increases that this bill brings.

7 rich athletes who lost their fortunes.

The fact is that most of these guys aren't equipped to manage their personal finances. Throw in millions of dollars, lots of girls/partys and relatively short earning careers and you have a recipe for financial disaster. Have you ever watched that lottery winner show? Very similar, IMO.

    Welfare

Our tax rate would be much lower and our deficit, assuming we still had corporate welfare (ie TARP), would be much more manageable. Likely our economy would get out of this crap much sooner, although that unfortunately would mean that many welfare recipients wouldn't be able to watch Oprah...

Kansas City to close half of its Schools

This is actually good. I live in Kansas City. This school district is renowned for their incompetence. Many of these schools were only half full because most people in KC will either move to the Kansas suburbs (excellent schools) when their kids become school age, or go private. The Kansas...

OHHHH....Just another $138,000,000,000 for unemployment benefits....

Yes, at some point I'm sure the Democrats will try to make the convoluted case that this was what the founding fathers intended...

'It's Going to Be Inflation Everywhere:' Deputy 'Doom'

You have a lot of alarmists calling for the end of the world due to either massive inflation or massive deflation. I guess that shouldn't shock anyone, as bad news sells. The inflationists could be right, or the deflationists might be. In my humble opinion, we might just get a slow asset...

How to convince wife to let me trade full time?

I don't see why you don't do both. Trade in the am and look for work in the pm. You really don't need to look for work full time because there are only so many jobs out there. In any particular field, there are probably just a small handful. Use your am's to trade everyday, use your pm's...

We have to address this issue. Paying off your home or not. So much foolishness

And how would an additional mortgage payment improve their situation? Obviously these people have an income problem, rather than an expense problem....... Big difference.

This thread has been hiJACKed. Once a thread has been hiJACKed, it's over. The thread continues to grow exponentially, but with Jack and a handful of followers -vs- the anti-Jack posters arguing over his nonsense. There will be no content of value from here on out............. Net result...
