Like a lot of others I was thinking of shorting the spike but them when I saw how wide spread it was I held off. If it was just one stock I would have gone through. You think that is a wise strategy in the long run?

Why don't you explore opening orders on the NYSE? Seems to be working for a lot of traders right now. It may provide you with the bread and butter play to stay in and develop more strategies.

3dog, that is interesting. I don't want to sprain my brain from all that thinking but I did notice that Cramer poo-poohed the idea of the QQQ reaching 9/11 lows. He has been so cold lately that I would fade him. Also the components of QQQ are in really bad shape with some big caps already...

I'm baffled. Aren't there strict laws/regulations re how/when a stock is halted and how/when they break trades? In this example we are talking about thousands of trades worth millions of dollars. Anyone have a link or know the skinny on these regulations? Thanks.

For what its worth, I also believe that the powers behind LTCM were complete idiots. Not in the academic sense. Ofcourse, they have their PhDs and their Noble prizes. But they are idiots in the most comprehensive way possible because what they lack in common sense they make up with hubris...
