Why I Don't Believe in TA

Same old question to you: if not TA, then what? Fundamentals only?

The Truth About Prop Trading: Join Us or Perish

Ahh, not fair argument, Surf. :) If I say chart reading works it's not the same as to say reading any chart works equally for everyone.

Does anyone use a 2 moving average trading system?

MA's smooth the price and show average direction. Had to say this obvious banal information, because it makes one ask the correct questions: do we need smoothed price action/average direction of the price? Yes, it can be useful. As for the particular settings, that's of secondary importance...

The Truth About Prop Trading: Join Us or Perish

Nonsense applied to trading IMO is using tools, which don't work. If TA/chart reading does work for me and many other people, should we stop doing it you say? :D

Even if it's chart reading? :p

Automated traders/algos/bots are ATM for chart readers. :D

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Depends on time horizon of the trader. My current statistical "heat limit" is 8 ticks, simply no reason to hold losing trades for more. But that's day trading. Not the matter of being scared or confident, just pure logic. Benefits of day trading are ability to use much higher leverage and...

    A simple price action approach

Must say that since I trade NQ, use trendlines much less than before with Euro. Probably is related to the fact that NQ has sharper distinction between ETH and RTH with different players involved, while Euro trades 24/5 and mostly smartest of the smart money there which never sleeps (global...

    A simple price action approach

DV, I guess you likely seen this on my site already as it was posted last year, but for others as well here's what I believe is about the best with-trend setup where trendlines are involved as analytical tool.

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

For the sake of truth: having losing trades is OK so let's not criticize Surf if his calls turn into losses sometimes. The other question is: should a trader talk about any trade in terms like "super bullish(bearish)" and other similar rhetoric considering he doesn't know for sure if it works. :)

    A simple price action approach

As NoD said earlier, "perfect" day trading is very nuanced and many nuances may not even be fully understood by the trader, but considered in intuitive level (intuition is information processed by the brain, but which has not become conscious yet).

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Because someone's real success makes those who didn't achieve it feel the pain of "reality touch". Can't say all people are such though. Many try to learn from success and do better themselves. Just as usual - negativity is more obvious, cause it stinks. :D

Sad really, very self-destructive activity - living in a delusion instead of making reality better.

Frankly I don't see much sense in falsifying track record. Whom would such a person cheat? Him/herself first of all and others care less anyway. :)

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

I don't see anybody criticizing Surf for making PD calls. Argument only arises when Surf positions PD as a profitable method as opposed to TA, which has no constructive use according to him.

Why I Don't Believe in TA

Thanks for that. The most correct definition would probably be: TA is analyzing market based on the information, provided by the "internal" market inputs only, such as price, volume, order book and possible derivatives/combinations of the above as opposed to fundamental analysis which uses...

Why I Don't Believe in TA

It's not really that critical, because chart is just graphical presentation of trades occurred, be it candlestick, bar or exotic, such as Kagi, Renko or P&F is a question of taste just like choice of price derived indicators rather than essential element of data input. In my (possible...
