What stops money manager under CTA exemption to only charge fees if profitable?

Right. I'm under "friends and family" aka CTA exemption currently. Allows no paperwork, nothing basically, very simple. It was also one of top reasons I switched from European brokers to US brokers and US traded futures. EU regulations are nightmare compared.

Yep, that's why price is golden. Nothing can be hidden in price chart, nothing.

Did you find and successfully exploited any edges at all?

    hmm.no edges in the markets

Yep. Whatever Surf says, even single time-frame bar or candle chart is enough to become consistently profitable trader.

Book indeed shows limit orders before they are filled, but only limit orders and DOM impact on the market is very short-term, absolutely not usable to catch anything but the closest few ticks (HFT-like activity).

Tape (T&S) only shows trades ALREADY happened. Same information as on chart, simply not graphical.

As I witness JP trading almost every day, can say his approach includes tremendous work done to develop and employ indicators as well, which are his personal sort of magic. :)

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

ES shows daily 2B bearish pattern. Break of yesterday's low (167725) is a short with stop-loss just above the last high (169550).

Got one question regarding Combine to people who been through it: Did I understand it correctly that if a trader who goes live Combine does not hit the loss limits and produces some profit, he keeps 60% of the profits?

Difference between discretionary and mechanical is simply the number of inputs. Can robot be coded to ride a bike just like human? Does it mean riding a bike skill cannot be transferred from human to human?

Just read NoD's long post with attention... I agree with Sellindexvol... you're giving away too much! :D But it's so nice you see exactly what I saw there too... oops, did I just say TA can be objective? :p

I'd say 90% will never even read her post to the end. Of the remaining 10% 90% will be too lazy to do the work needed and so on... Surf is right, it's incredibly rare to see such a dedicated person as NoD... in any profession. Just most professions are far more forgiving... and that's why...

If they want, they will contact you. But honestly Surf, just as friendly advice, watch your image. There are no aliases on the Internet really for any serious person. Many ET members know much more personal information about each other than you may think. And whatever you say here is not...

I simply got interested in trading CL since about the last week. NoD can prove my point, I emailed her with a few questions and back then didn't participate in this thread. P. S. Passion to conspiracy theories is very typical form of rationalization.

Right, fundamentals are not used for any actual trading decisions, because fundamentals are too broad factors for day trading. I fully understand how Soros trades with mainly fundamentals, but his time scale is much higher.

    hmm.no edges in the markets

Frankly just a couple of days of simulated trading without proper focus and using single 5-min chart with a few mistakes in mkt read and a few missed goodies. I've almost never traded CL so it's rather at a hobby stage right now, but certainly can see how experienced full time traders can...

Speaking of edges in context of NoD's claims of what's possible at least in theory... while NQ as dull and not giving me trades I practice some simulated CL trading this week... just a couple hours a day as usual, cause now it's time for milk with some cake and sweet sleep. :)

    hmm.no edges in the markets

To share my personal experience: there is a lot more money willing to be invested than traders willing to trade it. I literally had a line standing just consisting of friends and online buddies even before the start of operation without any real promotion. Supply/demand here seems to be...
