    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

I always place one as soon as I'm filled, but I only put it out for about 1/4 of my position. I think having an order out for your whole position 6-10 cents from your fill will severely cut back on the overall expectancy of this style of trading. The big winning days for me come when we...

    moderating your own journal

Would it be possible for people to have the right to moderate their own journal here on ET? I'm only talking about things posted in the journals thread. To me a journal is kind of a personal thing. You may want to put it on a public message board to get feedback or prove a point, or...

Comments on eSignal 7.x and above

This has been posted before and I was wondering if it might be forthcoming? Right now, Esignal can't include a seperate number, such as a cash component, in a spread. For example, ATH is buying WLP for 1 share of stock plus $23.80 in cash. The spread would be expressed like this in a chart...

In a bankruptcy, the common stock usually gets wiped out and new equity is issued.

    WHats going on with Andover?

Magna, come on, read the posts Jon put in this thread. Where was he once even hinting at trying to recruit traders? All he did was answer the questions. I know Baron wants advertising dollars from firms, but geez, it is a discussion board isn't it? People from Assent can't discuss things...

    Shorting

A phone call from someone in the clearing dept. Each time it was a "potential" buy in notice with 3 days notice and corresponded with the end of the month. Once I actually didn't get the whole position covered, and nothing happened. Another time I re-shorted it the next day at the same price...

    Shorting

It's called a buy in. Happened to me 4 times so far this year (in very thin stocks though). Each time I covered before the deadline, but I may have had the position automatically liquidated if I didn't. For some stocks, there is just very limited supply available to borrow. It's one of...

We want the $$ to fall and bond yields to rise, DOW 15000!!!

I was with you until the part about increased interest rates and inflation forces manufacturers to ramp up production. How's that work again?

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

October ended up being a decent month considering how poor August and September were for me. I ended up with an about avaerage monthly profit, but had reduced my share size by about 20%. I'm going back to full size next week. Here's some stats from my own trading for those interested. I...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

They don't HAVE TO be in before 9:28, but if they aren't you're not guaranteed a fill. I've been stepped over twice, both times in T, and both times my order was in after 9:28. I send early now as a result.

    Breaking trades

Assent traders got a notice today that isld trades outside the market on listed stocks that took place during about a two minute period around 3 pm would probably be busted. isld must have had some kind of glitch then.

    FNM Yeah Baby!!!

I had fnm and fre on both the down and the up- best in and out daytrade I've ever had. Don't have the balls of steel you guys do in the office though for size. Out of nowhere, October has been a great month for trading. There must be some painful stories though for guys caught short...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

If a stock is looking ugly right off the open, I'll usually try to get out part of my position to recuce my risk. It depends on the stock and what kind of sector news might be out that day, but the first couple minutes is when you are going to get the shakeout moves. However, it might not be a...

still can't plot cash in a spread in esignal

Anyone? Any other esignal m&a spread traders here who can maybe apply a little pressure to get this simple feature added? This spread was a cash cow today and if I didn't still have a qcharts account, I wouldn't have even been watching it.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

I agree with Don, Tony. You've been doing openings for a while now and still bascially scratch everything. At some point you have to have the confidence to really trade these things. Give them time to work and realize you could be wrong for 15 cents or more- and be ok with it. And another...

still can't plot cash in a spread in esignal

Another merger announced today that esignal users can't plot the spread of. ATH buying WLP for stock and cash, and esignal can't include cash in a spread calculation. I'm using beta 7.5 and it doesn't look like this feature is included yet. Any time line on this? I still have to stick with...

    esignal after hours prints

What can you do to delete erroneous prints that show up in esignal after the market has closed? For example, if I specify sp z3=2, which is 9:30-4:15pm, the chart will still show a few bars after 4:15 with one or two contracts of volume. These throw the indicators off for the next day. It...

    Squawk Box

Obviously it depends on your trading style. For me, the squawk has become my eyes on the chart. I only look at a spoos chart once in a while to note recent highs/low, support/resistance. The rest of the time, I can focus on other things and always know what's going on in the market, even when...

Try xsquawk.com They do naz and spoos. I've used them for two years and couldn't trade without it.
