    Unconventional and Unique Strategies

I know several traders making great money by trading unconventional strategies. Less competition = more opportunity. It's not so much about seeing things others don't, or unique setups, it's more about thinking of ideas from a whole different angle than how most people approach the...

    Anyone else workout in here?

Is anybody here a competitive athlete? Like at a national age-class or former pro level? I've been competing in cycling and triathlons for 20 years now and do about 6-8 hours a week of swim/bike/run in the off season and 10-15 hours a week from april to october. I'd like to get on the...

    Less than $1 commissions

What if you do it a few hundred times a day? Then a dollar here and there might add up. Obviously the higher your trade volume and frequency, the more important commission rates become. There are legions of traders working strategies with very thin margins and a major part of their edge...

Maybe they don't have an answer to this one....

    Schondfeld or Hold Brothers

That is somewhat of an urban myth. MANY prop firms have no problem whatsoever with overnight positions.

    Learning Curve

I was a firefighter/paramedic and had a small building maintenance business on the side. I think I made about $55,000 my first year trading full time, that's with being 20k in the hole after the first 4 months. Once things started to click, I never looked back. I was somewhere in the 2-300k...

    Learning Curve

Probably in the neighborhood of $70,000 over 7 years as a 'hobbyist' not knowing what I was doing. This was financed with most of the disposable income from my job. The first 4 months of trading full time cost me about $20,000 experimenting with various strategies (with too much size) before...

IB Are You EVER Going To Give Us Commission Details?

How much did you pay in SEC fees last month? What did you earn in ecn credits? Oh...wait, there's no way to know that from IB's statements. THAT'S what he's talking about. It's beyond ridiculous that a firm like IB, that caters to serious traders chooses to leave us in the dark on this matter.

Assent is overall the best to trade

I traded at Assent and think it's a fine firm. However, to say that any one firm is the best is a silly statement. The styles and requirements of traders, and what the various firms provide cross too wide a spectrum for one to be called "the best".

Working in Prop Firms without licence?

There are lots of firms that will let you trade without licensing. Most of them are sub-llc's under the umbrella of a larger firm. I'm interested though, why would licensing result in higher fees? I think the only thing you'd pay is the annual exchange membership of a few hundred bucks.

    Best Canadian remote deal

If you want to trade prop with a US based firm, you will have a hard time finding one that will accept Canadians. Any other country in the world is no problem, but the Canadian brokerage industry has scared most US firms into not taking Canadian accounts through threats of legal action for...

keep traying to pick tops and bottoms

You have $4500 to lose, which does not sound like an insignificant amount to you now. Reviewing your charts will do you little good if you keep repeating the same habit. You have an addiction problem, not a discipline problem. Seek help. You are in over your head and have virtually zero...

    The Opening Orders Thread

Are you using a hotkey based system? I nailed that MMM spike down this morning immediately after the open and covered some. I'm seeing this reguarly, but you have to be very fast. If you are point and clicking with a mouse, you are behind your competition.

keep traying to pick tops and bottoms

3 million dollars to 4500 bucks? Ummm.... my advice has changed. Close your account, put your cash in the bank and seek help via a 12 step program like gambler's anonymous. I'm not kidding either.

keep traying to pick tops and bottoms

The problem raised by the OP has nothing to do with picking tops/bottoms. The particular strategy used is irrelevant to his problem. As Austinp said, he derives more pleasure in being 'right' than he suffers in pain when 'wrong'. He is trading to ellicit an emotional response. He is not...

keep traying to pick tops and bottoms

You are not trading to make money. You are trading to be right. You are trying to satisfy some urge to be correct. The solution to your problem is well documented and easy to come by with some research on your part. However, the fact that you still do this repeatedly after years of trading...
