    FX SPOT/Currency Futures Spread

Sigh. The interest differential is the only reason there is any premium/discount to the futures in the first place. The spread will always narrow and close by expiration. There is no edge in "betting" on the spread to close, you might as well just go long or go short the spot for the interest...

    FX SPOT/Currency Futures Spread

You're right, speed is not the issue -- the issue is that there is no opportunity here. You need to re-read the post before you wrote this one. The interest you pay out/receive on spot cancels out the premium/discount from futures.

    Averaging down is addictive

Averaging down is all some managers of opm know how to do. Which is why most of them would be clueless/busted out trading their own money.

    The Surf Report

Is that how people usually express being long euro ("short the eur/usd pair")? I know it's upside down for yen (I see lots of people say "buying yen here" when they mean buying USD/JPY), but didn't know it was same for euro. If you are long euro you'd be short the USD/EUR pair, no...

    FX vs Futures execution times.

Vast majority of retail fx = you will only get filled when you don't want to on fast moves. Globex at least you can pick off some sitting limit orders or bid/offer into momentum.

    DRT's Currency Trades

I wouldn't use a stop either, interferes with the retrotrading. Yes, we seem to have too much free time. Turned into a nice day around here, wonder if pier crabbing is any good with outgoing tide. Saskatchewan?

    Short USD/JPY

You shorted sub 119, how'd you manage that? :)

    DRT's Currency Trades

God forbid someone might get insulted on this thread and -- gasp -- quit posting, lol. Oh yeah, isn't it nice to have a position with no stop posted nor any "responsibility" to keep us updated -- unless of course things go in your favor. God bless the internet.

    DRT's Currency Trades

Shrug, it's mostly just to pass the time. People who "take advice" from anonymous message boards on how to trade a market like forex pretty much are going to get what's coming to them, whether deserved or otherwise. Same goes for anonymous posters who expect everyone to play along nicely...

    IB Data Feed Problems?

Not one response from any IB representative on this issue here? Fess up now, what did you guys try to implement on a broader scale on 10/4?

Why won't this make easy money?

On spot pairs where the "numerator" pays a higher interest, the futures will trade lower and slowly rise to the spot rate as expiration approaches, to mimic the interest earned. When the "numerator" pays lower interest (as in EUR/USD), the futures trade at a premium and slowly fall to meet the...

Great, so one stays long and the other short -- is that the "experiment" going on here?

    The Surf Report

You don't have to answer, but I'm curious what got you to flip long on the euro right before NFP just when your short trade seemed ready to take off (you had held against a pretty sharp spike up that quickly fizzled out). The simplest explanation would be that you had a good source that the...

    IB Data Feed Problems?

Yes today seems fine, they must have either removed the software that monitors your positions and auto-trades against it, or put those who don't generate enough commissions back on normal servers. IB, I'm just kidding!

    IB Data Feed Problems?

Did you notice that by yesterday afternoon, they deleted all the bulletins sent concerning the problem? Now why on earth would they do that, without giving a follow-up had they realized their prior missives were incorrect?

    DRT's Currency Trades

Haven't read through the whole thread about how it got to this point, nor am I pointing fingers at all (I don't think riskarb's comments merit a threadbreak), but, in general, if someone was making money in your game and telling others how they did it, wouldn't you have a motive to chase them...

    DRT's Currency Trades

I was just wondering how he (and others I've seen on this site) who were (correctly) positioned for a move lower in EUR last week have suddenly gone bullish. As for 30 contracts on a 150k account -- well, anything can get quickly out of hand so long as your attitude is to hold/get bigger as...
