Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

As a fellow scalper of many years, I can confirm the same win rate from this setup.

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

Cherry-picking quickly turns a winning strategy into a losing one. Ask yourself why you didn't trade a call for a $10 drop in oil ($10,000/contract profit). The answer(s) will likely explain why your trading resulted in net losses.

How does someone get the capital required to turn trading into a business?

Do the research necessary to create a business plan (trading plan). Test it in a simulated environment. Test it in TopStep Trader's free trial. Pay a paltry sum to participate in a combine. Get funded and grow your capital.

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

I tracked the following: Context (such as trend or range, range of signal bars, proximity to trend lines/channel lines, etc.) MAE/MFE from entry (with and without retraces on the 1-min chart). Results with various fixed targets and stop losses based on the MAE/MFE research. Trade...

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

:D I've given away A1 here on ET several times with graphic illustrations, the early stage of it just this past week, in fact. I've also given it away to at least a dozen people via Skype. There are iterations of it in Bob Volman's book. SteveH uses it to add to winners in a strong...

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

Oh yeah right...you want my #1 working setup in exchange for your dead one :p:p

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

Right out of Brooks' Reading Price Charts Bar By Bar. The ET community just hates this setup :D

    CL Redux

CL's not as volatile, but in exchange for the smaller profits per trade the risk per trade is smaller as well. When I started trading CL I used a stop loss of .20 (sometimes a bit larger), but now my average stop loss is .10. I had a trade last week with a .03 stop loss.

Wow, what is a DF20 reversal pattern?

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

The setups I trade have been thoroughly backtested by hand using spreadsheets to track the results based on a variety of variables such as method of entry, fixed targets/flexible targets, and price environment (context) leading up to the price action pattern. To me a setup includes context...

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

I had someone run backtests on all sorts of ideas before I developed my current trading plan by doing meticulous manual analyses day by day. Every single backtest - whether based on one or more indicators, price bar patterns, breakouts, whatever - produced results that indicated we'd be...

    Making of a method

I've heard this sort of thing from others and have been curious what sort of patterns occur more often in a bear market.

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

I second this post! Surprise's commentary demonstrates only that he hasn't discovered the powerful edge retail traders can exploit in both calm and volatile markets using the technical analysis of price action combined with the trader's mindset described in Mark Douglas' 5 Fundamental Truths of...

    Making of a method

Yes, I was flattered by the invitation but as a small retail scalper I didn't feel like "book" material

I got it!.....I lost it...The search for consistency.

And here's the short trade. (By the way, my charts are 3 hours earlier than eastern time.)

I got it!.....I lost it...The search for consistency.

You're welcome! This is basic textbook stuff. These core technical price action setups are treated by many here with derision because they're available in books and on web sites and so they can't possibly offer an edge (contempt before investigation). I've shared this sort of thing many times...

I got it!.....I lost it...The search for consistency.

    1. The DTL (I assume you mean descending trend line) break is the signal. In the context of the orderly down channel, the break of that trend line sets up the context necessary for the foundation of a long trade. What happens between 9:22 and 9:25 (eastern time) to trigger a low risk entry? 2...

I got it!.....I lost it...The search for consistency.

Here's an exercise to get started on finding an edge. I call this one Forensics because it involves looking at the scene of the crime (strong directional price move) and determining what happened and why. Using today's NQ action as displayed on a 5-min and 1-min chart as an example: 1) A...

    Is day trading worth it?

The opening couple hours are generally productive enough that I could call it a day on most days. I enjoy day trading, though, and there are a few chat rooms to shoot the bull (or bear) if the PA is in a non-inviting phase. :)

    Trading Price:Phase One:Observation

At the hard right edge, buyers are telling me they're no longer willing to defend the level of value up to that point with as much ammo as they were earlier in the boxed action. Sellers are not yet getting aggressive.
