DRL: How the shorts got suckered

Not sure what you mean at the end about taking the 2k shares regarding the impact on the bid price. I perhaps should add, of course I'm referring to a situation where you anyway are interested in the stock at around the price, that they gave it away even cheaper.

DRL: How the shorts got suckered

I was wanting to daytrade some DRL and to hold some longer term. The bid was 16.00 w/ 100 size; the ask was about 16.13 with shorts showing 1300 shares. I entered my order one cent below the ask, and the shorts matched me. When I saw that happening, I kept reentering my order one cent below...

    IB's quote limitation of 100??

It seems I found half of the problem. When using Quotein on Excel, the problem started. When changing the data feed away from IB to another data provider and then when closing & clearing Quotein off of my tool bar, the problem mostly corrected. Now it shows maybe 35 quotes. Before I was getting...

    IB's quote limitation of 100??

That's what I thought. But it seems that this has not been happening by us. Could it be that placing 60 quotes on a page instead of up to 50 will make the system go a little bonkers (i.e. a bunch of question marks), and then you won't get the 50 on the current page?

    IB's quote limitation of 100??

"Yes quote limit is based on commissions generated. But if you do good volume, say 4k a month, that's 500 quotes, 8k is 1000, etc." But I thought when you jump to a new page, then the system will automatically "wake up" and display the quotes on the page you jump to?--while reducing the...

    IB's quote limitation of 100??

IF the above is true, is there not a service one can subscribe to which would enable more quotes? If yes, would this come out on the TWS pages?

    IB's quote limitation of 100??

IB customer service just said there is a limit of 100 quotes. They allow 50 quotes per page, and allow 26 pages, but only a total of 100 quotes!! ...which means 4 quotes per page. Is this information correct?? Is it also true there are NEVER exceptions, other than the slow increase you get...

    Resources for non-standard options

I have found the OCC website, http://www.optionsclearing.com/market/ess/ess.jsp to locate a list of non-standard options. I have also found the broker Thinkorswim to give the best alert & details in their options chain about special contracts. Please share any other information that YOU have...

    Sending orders in Excel

I would be using Quotein/ Quotelink for the quotes in Excel, which would include all the fields I need, but they don't give any way to connect to a broker.

    Sending orders in Excel

    A) Is a programmer needed to link an Excel sheet to IB to enable placing, modifying & cancelling orders based on certain rules we would provide, OR is there any third party software? B) If the latter, what third party software may be worthwhile considering? Aside from the link for order...

IB bid price bigger than ask

I'm sure a lot of people viewed your thread. So that a customer won't get confused or make wrongful assumptions, would it not be possible to get "no quotes" instead of "wrong quotes" in such situations?

IB bid price bigger than ask

Obviously one can notice those are problematic. But if the bid price is lower (most of them are), can one assume it is accurate?

IB bid price bigger than ask

Google bid price is now 622 and ask is 613. Rimm is 100 bid price, 108 ask price. Are you showing the same things?

    Weakening dollar's impact on market

    1. Do you mean stockpiling? 2. If yes, do you mean America from other countries, or other countries (using US dollars) from America?

    Weakening dollar's impact on market

You are making a good point because the American's are being "taxed" by the dollar devaluation more than anyone. But the Americans receive current benefit of lower prices for their retail goods, which creates that situation. Of course a shrewd American can avoid that "taxation" by keeping his...

    Weakening dollar's impact on market

If America buys raw materials* from other countries then devalues their currency for whatever reason, the real winners is America. I appreciate the input from everyone, but meanwhile, is there really any proof that printing money is anything mroe than taxing the world? *The same...

    Weakening dollar's impact on market

But in the end of the day, that means when the Q's are at $45, it's not the top of the range-- to the contrary, maybe the bottom?!

    Weakening dollar's impact on market

Higher prices will just increase corporate profitability. Also, the price will not increase to the extent it will chase away all buyers, rather to the extent the supply & demand will become balanced. Concerning the other point, are you referring to the American supplier?
