How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Part of me just wants to make random longer-term bets on hunches I have. For example, I've always thought that the fears over Brexit were based on nothing. So perhaps the GBP is artificially depressed. So I could take $10,000 that I can afford to lose and put it on the GBP. Then I would just...

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Of course not. But from my perspective, I'm trying to make sure I don't spend lots of time and energy on something fruitless.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

What about setting up trades around data releases? Either economic data or company earnings. But something like... If unemployment is higher than expected, it would be a larger surprise than if it remained stable or the rate dropped slightly? So a win would be a big win... A loss would be a...

At least 40%. It depends if I can find something that I actually know will yield results over time. I know that I won't be able to watch charts all day. But I could possibly enter positions ahead of data releases or something? I'm willing to tweak the strategy.

There's always down time in the hotels. I still run my business while I'm gone too.

    Use the brokers leverage.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Yes, probabilities. Even a proven 55% probability can lead to a lot of profit if enough capital and leverage is put into it. That's why I was so disappointed with my back testing thing I did.

Even in a winning trade, isn't there a high probability it was luck? If I guess correctly in roulette, I'm not gonna brag about it or act like a genius.

So I should start learning "price action analysis" instead of trying to make use of TA?

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

I'm not sure that TA (which could mean a million different things) is ever #1. I've certainly never seen proof of it.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Put these 2 things together... 1. Technical analysis can't predict global events. 2. Global events are the #1 force that drives markets. You get... Technical analysis can't predict the main forces that drive markets. That was my point. I never claimed that TA was capable of doing this.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

There are so many infinite possibilities of combinations of indicators, used on different assets, and different timeframes that it's impossible to know if you found something even if you get a good % result. The people on this forum have such awful personalities that you don't even deserve a...

Read about a combination of indicators. Tested the EUR/USD. It works less than 50% of the time.

    Actually, I back tested. Remember?

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Is there a good platform for trading mini futures that has little or no "bid-ask" spread? I've found the spread gets in the way on short-term trades I've done on Forex.

Couple what you just said with the fact that news has been the biggest driver of markets. See the difficulty?

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Last post I made before this thread was 17 days ago (seems a lot longer). Since then, I deleted all my trading apps and decided it wasn't for me and that it was just gambling. That it would be foolish to risk so much money on such uncertainty. But I got drawn back into it looking at news recently.

Wouldn't this limit me to very short timeframes? Which I have no problem with by the way.
