    When not to trade?

I guess I just see multiple time frames operating at the same time. So I might see a setup on a five min but pass because of the overriding trend, which is counter.

    When not to trade?

Just speak your mind if you have an opinion. What I'm saying is most setups are marginal. When everything lines up in all time frames is rare, very rare. So anything less is a compromise. I remember trading in September of 08. There you had everything lined up for a brief time, except you still...

    Ok what about them?

    When not to trade?

I firmly believe the market in anything can be doing several things at once. It's like pouring two liquids together. Is it one liquid or two? Depends on your time frame.

You must be one of those supertraders.

    When not to trade?

Often a setup lacks all the qualities which would make it a great setup. 10s don't come along very often. Ask Dudley Moore.

    When not to trade?

There are some good reasons for passing on setups. 1. Tired. 2. Currencies trade 24 hours-you can't take them all. 3.Overtrading

    When not to trade?

Yes it's one of the most important things to do, and its a conscious decision to just let go and see what happens. There's a concept called "Going to the well once too often". I generally take the first pullback after a move out of consolidation, sometimes a second. But i learned the hard way...

    USD index

Finally seeing a bit of selling in aud. We'll see if it lasts. Same in Cad after a nice run. A little bit of shine has come off the USD in the past day. Staying neutral for now, just scalping when things get extended against the trend. Problem is, hard to see where trend is right now in Euro...

    Meditation and trading

Mindfulness In Plain English by Bhante Gunaratana. Very straightforward and complete. I also like Jimmy Sloman's book Nothing, but it's not directly about meditation. More metaphorical but there are parallels to trading in it.

    Meditation and trading

Linda Raschke had a collection of trading rules which you probably can get for free. Some are contradictory, but that doesn't necessarily negate their usefulness. Every so often one will pop into my head, like "It's easier to put on a position than it is to take it off". I need to dig them out...

Is it really possible to feel the markets?

Apparently the birth of a new century has allowed traders of all kinds to be as arrogant as they please. And if you don't like it, tough. They reserve the right to be dismissive of any new information which may conflict with their view that technology is always better. You want to do things the...

    The ACD Method

My late mentor was saying a few years ago that basically Corporations are in good shape, while Governments and the Consumer weren't. It seems like this still holds, and government has transferred even more debt to itself, while helping corporations and consumers.

Also we go back to the debt cycle, and consumers ability to repay. Seeing cracks in the wall auto related.

    The ACD Method

So the supply side is good, but demand is weak. Even a small change in demand would be big, but a company with a strong balance sheet can withstand low demand for longer because their cost of carry is so low. But it still suggests there's excess capacity not being recognized. Probably in Asia

    The ACD Method

All of this sounds like stuff that happens in the late innings of a bull market.

I understand the theory. Can you give an example?
