HFT is smarter than human, the larger you trade, the bigger they will screw you. In pit if you are smart and experience enough, you can get away from the MM. You can't hide from HFT as they are linked and eye everywhere, i repeat again, Linked and eye everywhere.

I normally don't put any stop on this kind of trade, but before i setup this trade, i have decided what is the actual amount money that i am willing to loss, let said 0.5% of my account, i will then long those front month option until end - it either turn up to be loser or winner in the end...

Typo, i mean selling - you short the DITM call and long the underlying at the same time, with the expectation SPY won't tank below $85 and your SPY will get called away during expiration (automatically exercised by the DITM short call). It is almost impossible to find arb (risk free money)...

You have nearly 1K post in ES and I though you should be experience trader ? Buying DIM call options and long the underlying ,and let it get called away so that you can earn some premium for the DIM call is a known methods, you are right, you are ok as far as SPY never tanked below $85, just...

John - A good insight for the SPX. I never trade SPX in large volume, just curious do you see any problem to get a good filled when you try to trade 300-500 contracts ( 2-3 strike prices from ATM) in once ?

HFT are supposed to provide liquidity in such extreme situation to prevent market crash in panic, appears that they are not be programmed to work in such way.:eek:
