:)Thanks for the advice. I am finding that getting one's hands dirty actually helps seeing the signals with better clarity, even if after the fact. Even though your response was meant for the other person in may be a different context, but I am finding 'dirty hands' approach quite illuminating.

The hint was: Hint: Compare the BreakOut Bars to see what differences exist. I believe Spydertader's reference to BreakOut Bars meant to point out the presence of Peak Volume in one case and lack thereof in another. The reference to lack of increasing volume after lateral (or formation) BO...

It seemed right for the price going from pt2 to pt3. I think if one keeps fanning that up traverse, most people annotated, one arrives at the picture that says: "it (the traverse with pt1 at 1105 eob) shouldn't be there in the first place."

I think the rule is BO on decreased volume must fan, while BO on increased volume may fan. There's also a post somewhere by Spydertrader, saying if trendline is broken on decreased volume the market is telling us we've got our trendlines wrong. I'll try to find it.

Your teal Point 3 Up gets its RTL broken on decreased red 12:55 eob. Aren't we suppose to fan outward?

:D don't forget 13:55 eob EDIT: Because 13:00 and 13:05 eob the trend did not change

:D No shit! In case you're wondering wtf, take a look at 1245 eob:D

7/18/2008 has a Slope acceleration (green lines over volume bars)

7/29 11:45 eob has no Slope Acceleration

I am sorry. Case of low blood sugar. What I was trying to say is the Spydertrader's pic (BO of lateral movement) was Peak Volume and 7/29 11:45 eob was not. :D EDIT: 7/29 11:45 eob has no Slope Acceleration

By exclusion, yes. One of those was Peak Volume. 7/29 was not.

This may be helpful: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=2012091#post2012091 For the sake of clarity, I don't have the answers. It's not that I don't think about it, but more like a dog admiring a rainbow from afar: "Hmm..., there's something there, I wish I had more brains."
