Yes I have been short euro from 1.39 - covering and shorting again and again. The days range for euro for yday and today is > ATR. thats why its stalling now. I think the game is how fast and far ES falls now - euro will mostly act in a highly correlated fashion. But fundamentally, I think we...

Absolutely agree, these were my thoughts exactly. Short ES, Euro and AUD are the trades.

sorry, but you got stopped on that one. I am curious though why you have been looking for a bounce here ? in such extreme 20:1 volume with the fundamental completley bad news out of europe. In the larger picture, the whole rally from 1180 to 1280 was on european problems getting solved, now...

Thanks for bringing this information to my knowledge. However, in absence of any specifics, I will try to intelligently guess and my assessment is following: 1. If the survey was done by bbg itself, only way it can do survey is to conduct a poll among bbg users (either in greece or europe or...

Thats a fair analysis. The possibility of referendum result returning in austerity's favor is next to nil. So, default is a certainty now. I don't have quotes for peripheral sovereign CDSs, but I guess the movement in those instruments last week must be getting reversed now pretty sharply...

Question - Buying Open, Selling Close

RoI, Thanks for the info. This is a very practical suggestion to wait for 1 minute after market opens before start trading. Your experience has more or less confirmed my worry that open orders might not be the best deal. However, hearing what you and others had to say, it seems MoC orders are...

RoI, Hello, you have been doing great ! Especially the way you managed last few month's volatility. Very nice. I trade primarily fx and am trying to think how to approach stocks. I had a basic question on order execution at open and close. Can you please share your experiences on the...

Josh, can you please elaborate how month end settlement procedures are different from normal daily settlement procedures and why they lead to a different settlement value. Thanks for this.

Question - Buying Open, Selling Close

Also, its not only about liquidity, my question was more about if the open price is tradeable? As one poster said, only 100 shares might trade at open price - and it holds true for liquid stocks also. This is very worrying, because it questions the usefulness of the opening price for any...

Question - Buying Open, Selling Close

Hey Bob, thanks very much for the heads up! Can you pls shed some more light on below: 1. What is so particular with Nasdaq that you won't touch MOC on it? What is S&M (Sorry if its a basic question, I think I need to visit NYSE website and do some reading on different order types/auctions...

Question - Buying Open, Selling Close

Thanks for the feedback. what are illiquid stocks (what range of average volume) and how much slippage do you get with MOC and MOO trades ? Its a bit confusing as a previous poster said that liquidity is highest during open, so he doesn't experience any slippage; whereas another poster said...

    Learning About Intervention

To be honest, this is a bit tricky. General guidelines I can give is - read news, look for cues from the chattery that comes from finance ministry/CBank officials. They initially try to do verbal intervention and when it fails, they resort to real intervention. These are all the cues I look for.

Question - Buying Open, Selling Close

Thanks, my concern was very similar to your point. So, if you are restricted to only OHLC daily data for your strategy development and trading, how do you use opening prices in your backtests? Basically I am asking, how do you overcome this problem. Also, in your experience (lets say we are...
