    My system

Have to agree with this. The equity curve is not smooth enough for a short-medium term system. And its very hard to trade a system with prolonged flat periods especially the one your graph has which is 4 years from 2000-2004.

    Young Money Management

I heard in the US you can buy an M3 for about $50k. At 18years old, that should be able to lure the stunners for sure. You have plenty of time to accumulate wealth in your 20s and 30s. But you're only young once.

how to select strategy accoring to market condition?

For long only trend following systems, I know of some people who use index filters. Some have them set for if the index is in a downtrend, their systems turn off, for some this means they don't buy anymore but keep all current positions open until an exit is hit as per normal. For others it...

    Backtesting expectation

A solid post overall, and I agree with most of what is being said here. Number 4 especially. But i must disagree with point number 3. But I think this depends for the type of system you are trading. With long term trend following systems, like the weekly system I am trading, I just buy...

Did Paul Tudor Jones have near blowup experience?

Daytraders: How much do you make?

So according to the poll results so far. 13% of all profitable discretionary traders make over $10K+ per week. 39% of all profitable mechanical traders make over $10K+ per week. A 3-fold difference. Interesting. Thanks everybody for voting. Perhaps my next poll would be to test if...

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Hi Loik, I still can't see your point. I can't really explain what Im trying to do any better than in my last post.

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Im not a detective trying to solve a mystery, my smart ass friend. Im trying to figure out, from all profitable daytraders, who makes more, mechanical traders, or discretionary traders. The results so far lean towards the former. If you are NOT net profitable then you shouldn't be...

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Surely if they were lying they would all pick the 10k+ category??

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Well if your mechanical system is your main system then how much does this pull in a week? Please add it to the poll.

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Thank you all for polling so far. The results upto now have confirmed what Iv suspected. There are not many daytraders that trade mechanically, but those that do, really clean up. JimmyJam, do you daytrade using a mechanical system? If so -- PM me please, id love to discuss a few...

Daytraders: How much do you make?

Hello everyone, I'm thinking of adding an intraday system to my longterm trend following system. But first I want to find out if it would be worth my time (the design and development process) This poll is for daytraders only. Those that trade using bars with a shorter periodicity than...
