Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

5Pillars, Actually it might be helpful to Chad if you could do some analysis and provide him with some feedback. I have done so for several Asian and European markets using eSignal and given my findings to Chad. Here's some simple tests to consider: 1. Open a 1 min FP from the old...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Tweaker, I am honoured that my comments have mtoivated you to make your first post after lurking on ET for over 2 years. With a name like that I guess you've been too busy doing Crystal Meth to make any informed and sensible contributions to our esteemed forum. Now as to the realtive merits...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

I am sorry to have to report this but I can no longer recommend the new Market Delta platform. After extensive testing I have determined that I/RT platform has significant and fundamental issues with it's "delta" output. I am recommending users of the old Market Delta platform stick with it...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Just a quick update ..... have zoomed up the steepest part of the learning curve in the last week and starting to feel comfortable with new platform. MidKnight was a big help - thanks MK. I'm still running the old platform(s) side-by-side but starting trade more and more off the new charts...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

john, I believe the Market Profile and delta functionality will only be available thru www.marketdelta.com going forward. And yes you can create charts like 5Pillars - he might even send you his chart definition. bolter

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

FYI - based upon my initial testing version 8.5 Rev 4 has fixed the footprint problem.

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

I just heard from Trevor - a new relase will available today to fix the footprint issue. Word of advice for MP/MD users - in Setup | Prefrences | Charts | General - ensure that auto downlaoding is disabled. This will prevent tick data being overwritten automatically when you open (say) a 1...

m4a1, I use a standard allowance across all markets for end-of-day trading of 3.5% of the daily range. But my experience is that markets which have extended electronic trading you can work the order yourself and eliminate slippage altogether. bolter

m4a1, Yes a decent move lately. My model got short 31/8 - unrealised P&L of about $22k per contract in the curent trade. all the best, bolter

jason, There is alot of noise in the front month - as with most commodity markets. I generally trade the second to front month. bolter

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Alan, Small price discrepancies like that are a fact of life - in my experience. Unless it becomes commonplace I wouldn't sweat it. If you believe you need exactly perfect price data in order to trade properly you will drive yourself nuts - take it from me! I don't think the two programs...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Some feedback from Trevor: On the different algorithm in the new version - "We are taking a look at the whole algorithm and trying to determine why this might be happening. We have made some changes and will have them available in the next upgrade." On the bug in calculatiing deltas...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

billp, I'd really need to study the data to form an opinion. Besides opinions are like assholes - everybodys got one. I am very comfortable with the algorithm employed by the old version. Also I would consider it important to be able to regression test the new version with the old. If they...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Just for the record, I did say I was very comfortable with the old version. However, I am quite excited by the new version because it will allow me to do everything on one platform. And it certainly is feature rich. Despite some unwaranted teething problems I have confidence that Trevor/Linnsoft...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

hi alan, I don't have a problem with this. I read somewhere that you can "lock" charts, or layouts or something. This may or may not be your problem. all the best, bolter

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

I'm starting to feel like a beta tester (honorary I might add). It looks to me like nobody else has tested the bloody thing. Here's a serious bug with the new version. Note this 1 min footprint - decidedly bullish looking. In fact overly much so - markets rarely trade like this. Now...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

Running a live -side-by-side betwen the old and new versions this morning on the MSCI Taiwan index there are indeed appreciable differences. The new version allocates volume differently. For example, a print of 50x52 gets classified as 0x102 on the new version. Over the ocurse of time this...

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

I had the following response from Trevor - "We will be changing this in the near future to make it much more difficult to overwrite your tick data with intraday 1 min data." So obviously he is aware of the problem and a remedy is on the way. bolter

Market Delta - Transitioning to the New Platform

With regard to the differences in the delta I reported earlier I've discovered the source of the problem was that the chart was based on 1 minute data. Linnsoft point out that the delta and volume profile charts must built on tick data in order to be accurate. Ok no problem with that. However...
