how to quickly place a limit order?

In TOS you can right click on the chart and select BUY or SELL.. this will be a limit order at the price where your mouse is located. Be aware of your 'auto send' setting.. if checked, doing the above will directly place the limit order without confirmation.

Hi Rickshaw Man, Were these live trades or paper trades?

    Automated Trading for a Living

Very nice. I might humbly suggest allocating sufficient time to actually building things, and immersing yourself into a community of like-minded software developers with similar interests. In my experience, this is the fastest approach to comprehension.

If you can do 10 push ups when out of shape, then you will be fine. With the appropriate effort, you will absolutely see quick improvements and meet your goals.

Not sure if anyone can relate to this. One thing I am trying to improve is to become far more detached to a given trade idea. I often spend a lot of time trying to find a perfect trade idea and entry. And, traditionally, I have despised losing, even small amounts, even though this is a cost...

    Starting with $10k

Might I ask if this is what you have done for yourself? Did you start with $10,000 and are now trading 100 contracts on a small account ($1,500 allocated per contract) after 100 trading days?

    Starting with $10k

$5,000.. bah. Real futures traders allocate $1,500 per contract, including margin requirement. With $400 - $500 margin per contract, that leaves a generous $1,000.00 or so buffer before you are on margin call. Why leave all that extra capital un-utilized? I say we should trade on $550 margin...

Agreed. In addition to the pushups, I also highly recommend 'Bicycle Crunches'. Absolutely killer. They kick your ass but are extremely effective.

My pleasure. We seem to have similar body compositions. Definitely start small. Get good running shoes and just jog as far as you can. You'll huff and puff. Do this for a few weeks. Within a month or so you will be able to jog a few miles. Add in other routines. I recommend using a...

How you deal with the Stress and Anxiety?

My goal is to be hugely successful with trading (and/or another endeavor) in order to achieve the freedom associated with financial independence. Then, I will be able to pursue other interests. Some people are in it just for the money, just so they can have more money. I cannot relate to this...

Instant change -- I disagree here (within reason.. keep reading). As long as you do not have any medical conditions preventing high intensity exercise, you can aim to drop, reliably, 8 lbs. per month. This could be more if starting with a good amount of extra weight (it's easier to burn fat...

22 things you need to know about trading from Vic Niederhoffer

I believe atticus was saying that you would post then edit, but there would be a race condition whereby he was quoting your post before your edit.. and thus his quote of your post was out of date.

    Starting with $10k

$10k is not enough to do any meaningful active trading, despite what people here might tell you. The odds of outsized returns are very low. This means it is possible, but unlikely, and that hope is what helps people to try anyway. To me, this is not unlike gambling, and is not a good way to...

marketsurfer, Do you have any outlook on other trade ideas? Rising wedge (yes, a chart pattern, TA) on 30-year just broke. I was asleep. Boo.

    Time to Long NG (5/2/2013)

Interesting. Might I ask why you are going long, beyond just that the drop does not make sense? Also, are you saying you are not using a stop loss, e.g. if it goes below 4, then hold and pray?

    MSFT, what to do?

You don't want to take a bit off the table, just in case we retrace? As you pointed out, if we retrace to $30 that will eat up a lot of your profits. Looks like 33.00 - 33.60 or so (where it currently is now) would be a good area to at least take *something* off the table. A break above 34...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Hi Rickshaw Man, In prior posts I saw position sizes of maybe 10 ES contracts or so. Now I see 1,100 contracts (!). Is this a live account? Other posters commented that you are paper trading, and I was just curious. If it's live, then kudos at the size of your kahonas.
