    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Starting out slow this week. 11 fills, 7 winners, 4 losers. A small profit but a profit is a profit. Good luck to the bootcampers with their 2000 share orders.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

I thought yesterday was going to be good with lots of trades and only had 1 fill, made 10 cents on it though. I thought today was going to be slow but had 12 fills. 7 losers, 1 break even and 4 winners but made some decent money by using good money management, kept my losers small and let my...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Not a good day, slow data feed so closed out fast. 8 fills -$24 I've noticed that on the last 10 trading days that the futures were down before the open that my winning % has dropped to only 50%. Anyone else notice this?

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

-------------------------------------------------------------- I agree it is possible to do this strategy on the whole universe of stocks, Echotrades Predator Pro will do that if you want, however for most traders the size limits would have to be adjusted down or the amount of capital required...

Fun in Vegas! (20th - 23rd of November)

If anyone is going to the investment show in Vegas it is cheaper to book Ballys for Wednsday and Thursday directly from Ballys.com and Friday and Saturday through the show Hotel offer. You can save $41 a night. $82 buys a lot of one dollar bills for tips at the stripoints.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

7 fills, 1 loser, 1 even and 5 winners including a 75 cent mover. Not a bad way to start the week. Off topic: If anyone is going to the investment show in Vegas it is cheaper to book Ballys for Wednsday and Thursday directly from Ballys and Friday and Saturday through the show Hotel offer.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Jack, I again have to differ with you. Based on my profitability using this strategy for over a year now I think your theory about the strategy is simply wrong. My winning % over that year is a solid 75+% and my drawdowns are very low. If the specialists were working against the opening...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

There is a whole multitude of NYSE stocks. To think that they are ALL being hammered with opening orders from daytraders is a little bit of a stretch in my opinion. Besides, the whole idea of the strategy is that you are taking the same side as the specialist.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Don, When my trades get executed I am putting in stop losses on them until the opening rotation is complete. Then I start adjusting my stop losses if a stock has moved positive so that I should be locking in a profit if it turns against me. If all goes well I keep adjusting my stops as the...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

6 fills today. 4 winners, two losers but 10 cent slippage on 3 of my stops basically wiped out my gains. Oh well...there is always tomorrow. Anyone else have problems with slippage?

Increased my envelope because of the strong futures. No fills. :( I've been away for a few days but I agree with you guys about September being a bad month for openings. August +$2383 September -80 I've been experimenting with gap envelopes during the day using Echotrades predator...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

With the power outage I was worried about doing the openings and it was scary watching the fills today, 10 shorts and one lone long position. Would have made more but lowered my share quantity on KSS because of their news, then it was my biggest money maker at one point in time until the...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

It's been a tough market but I am still doing o.k. on my openings. Being so flat I have lowered my envelopes to .7 and out of about 40 stocks I have on my list I have been getting an average of 6 to 7 fills a day. Not making a lot of money on them but have had only one losing day so far this...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

While it is counterintuitive to trade the opens on bad or good news it has been my experience that trading the opens with news can be extremely profitable. Example, this morning there was news that TXN was being sued by QCOM. TXN gapped down and immediately turned into a good winner. Just...
