Good points. If you review the guy's stats in the link, he never maxed the 3 lots on crude. I think it would be difficult for scalpers to pass with the volatility in crude, only because you not only have to meet the profit targets, but also TWO of the three parameters: 1. Overall Avg win...

    Patak Trading

Is there a way to tell from the profiles when they got funded? In other words, are the profiles of traders currently live, or WERE live at one time? The profile in the link says she WAS live in November 2011, traded for a month using the 50k account, but reached her loss limit.

Maverick, gmst, volente: I appreciate the back and forth dialogue you guys are having (or should I say "banter") regarding their revenue model. Your numbers may or may not be accurate, only the firm and its partners know, however it does make one think critically, and besides, it's mildly...

Lucias, your points are well thought out regarding making improvements/changes to the combine. I don't know about their platform, my guess is if they felt it was not up to par, then they would change it. I've used many different equity platforms, they all have their pros and cons and opinions...

Lucias, If you read my prior response to your post, then you know it's simply incorrect to claim you are getting "a 1k account and not a 30k account." The $1k is "their risk" which is irrelevant, since the trader does not have to place any "at risk" capital in the live account, and the...

This is very generous, and quite frankly a "no brainer" for anyone who is willing to accept the challenge.

Lucias, I've read your posts. I agree with your logic regarding not wanting to risk money on the combine unless you're sure to hit it. That makes perfect sense. If you don't need the education tools, access to chat, etc, then you can get a free sim account with several vendors, set the...

CBSX Registration for Firm or Trader?

Since I've traded with a non registered firm in the past and currently trade with a CBSX firm, here's my response: At the unregistered firm, we were not "customers" we were "subcontractors" and traded on a "sub-account" of the master account. The master account is the "customer" of the...

    Prop firm Monthly payout

I recall reading another thread where it was posted as 40k. Not sure though, may want to double-check with Don.

Sure. My interpretation is they "drop you to the minors" only for the time it takes to redo the combine and meet the profit objectives. You stay in sim until you complete the combine again. It doesn't matter what the loss was in the live account, since PTP absorbs the loss.

traderchi: this question has already been answered by Patak, see below. And I totally agree, not having to make up the loss would DEFINITELY be easier mentally.

As Mav already pointed out, all Combines get access to their daily reports once they start the combine. However, upon further review: If you require a practice account WITH trade logs, then it appears the Membership is the default option. The "Basic" option allows you to add it for an...

No big deal, I've been exchanging emails with two equity trading buddies who want to trade futures, and are looking at this. One has the funds to open their own account, one doesn't, but they both want the tools/education/chat room and paying $150 for that and a sim account seems reasonable...

You're right, but it seems confusing. On the site, here's what it says for the practice account: "Members will have access to the Trade Report and Daily Trading Journal for their practice account. Non-member's practice accounts will not have access to these tools." If you sign up for...

I noticed there are two ways to join a Combine, with or without a paid membership. The membership allows for daily trade reports and journal on the simulator account, whereas paying for the Combine itself does not. If a trader pays for the $150 membership in order to get the initial reduced...

Since the purpose of this thread was to ask "any and all questions" which would be answered by Patak, here is mine: 1. How are you different than a deposit shop, when the current terms stipulate that the first $5,000 (or $10,000) of a trader's profits are held by the firm after they go live...

gmst: Some equity prop firms charge $200/month just for their chat room. There are education firms touting everything from stocks/futures/forex that charge $4,995 to $7,995 and more, just for a 7-day seminar. There are newsletters galore that charge thousands per year for subscriptions...

The entire discussion is centered around whether or not this business model is a membership churning scheme or a genuine way to become financially backed. It is not about prop firms success rates, and it's not about the whole industry. You're right though, a private firm does not have the...
