Well it doesn't look like I'll be putting on the 2nd tranche of my short at 774. On the way down my next short will be on a 15min close below 763.50. So a ways to go yet -and who knows maybe we spike up again :D

Walking in the door this morning and seeing bond yields higher around the world again i think i'm going to dip my toe in the water. short ER2 from 770.90. Scaling into a short. Only 1 fifth of total position. Will sell another fifth at 774 and will only add as we move lower.

My assumption had been that we would see weakness ahead of the Q1 close. That may still be the case but until I get a short signal I am not going to go short. Now as for going long. Sure the trend is up but with small caps +12% on the year there is going to be a lot of incentive to book...

The name of this thread is now woefully inappropriate... In any case; as long as we can hold above 760 then 774 remains on the cards. 753-760 is a neutral zone for me. Only an intraday break below 753 will tempt me to short this baby.

ER2 looks strong relative to other indices -it's still holding above yesterday low. In the event that other indices stabilize and recover then i think ER2 is going to rocket higher. If the top is in place then I need to see a close below the 753-755 area. Only then would I feel...

So how high could we go on a short covering spike? I think a spike to 775 is not unreasonable in the short term. But looking out a week from here I think we'll be lower. If anything the higher we spike the lower we'll correct. Humble chart attached.

If I were a betting man..... ....selling breaks of 753, stop above 763, scale out profits on the way down starting at 733 would be my prefered trade.

750 later today? maybe...... Currently trading 757.30 at 10:54cst. I think we churn around current levels and maybe get back above 760 later today or tomorrow. By the end of the week or early next I think we will see 735. By middle of April we will be looking at 715.

I think we'll see cash Russell 2k touch 750 (~755/6 basis Jun) before Friday and then weakness heading into Q1 end. This can (and probably will!) be derailed by an unexpectedly dovish Fed statement following the FOMC.
