Just say that you are talking to the MMs/Specialist. Or better yet, find another trader that "talks to himself" and start trading together. Then it'll look like you're having a conversation (like pariing up 2 schizos on the street).

Tough market, but you are starting off with enough sense to swing trade (not daytrade). This will give you a much better chance these days, and as you said will allow you to go to school while trading small and learning.

First NY is more an institutional trading place. AB Watley is not a good place if you actually want to learn to trade and have a chance at making good money. Generic is fair. depending on the office you go too. Every firm has its advantages and its down sides however.

If consistency is what is important, wouldn't it be better to ask people how they are doing relative to how they've done previously? After all, if someone says he makes $20g a month, but made $40g a month last year (or say $5g vs $10g or -$1g per month vs $5g last year) then without knowing how...

Prop is good for leverage, but props trade with higher commissions as well.
