    Back to the Basics

These statements can be read in several different ways and are confusing. Please could you explain what you mean... For example, from the peak of the previous rally, the price will definition have pulled back other wise it would not be the peak. At this point, until you pass this price again...

    spread on the Dow e-mini

Spread on YM is anything from 1 some of the time - often 2, 3 reasonably frequently but not for more than maybe 10 seconds or so at a time, and sometimes can even be 4 or 5. Usually it is either 1 or 2 points. the real advantage is not that the spread is less, but that it moves in 1 point...

    Back to the Basics

Agreed Db, and it doesn't hurt people who have been around for a while to be reminded either. If it helps someone, somewhere - so much the better. Natalie

Trading times for Monday trough Friday

I think there are 2 issues here. 1 is being able to accurately predict times when things will happen, and then anyone can have systems where one or other of their trading signals is triggered at aound that time, and they have a trade they can take. 2 is trying to predict what that signal...

    stops - 'noise' and volatility

Is this taken from a backtest, or actual trades? Ideally you need to load the raw data into a spread sheet, and then start sifting through it to find good entry/exit probabilities, and from there, reset the entry/exit levels, re-test and run through the whole exercise again... Natalie

    stops - 'noise' and volatility

You could also calculate from that probability tables relating to different levels, and further enhance your strategy from there, based upon getting higher probability trades with smaller stops and bigger targets less often, and thus reducing your level of risk involved in the trade itself...

    Back to the Basics

I think the point about the 2% is quite simply this. Risk no more than 2% of the capital you have on a trade. That way if the trade goes wrong (even with a good strategy it happens) you will not be out of the game... So, if you have say $5000 you should not risk any more than $100 per...

Mark 6-5-03 on your calendar now !

Walters time projections have been pretty accurate. He's not giving direction, just times to look out for where he has calculated that a relatively low risk trade may be taken. He's been pretty much spot on so far... Natalie

Comments on eSignal 7.x and above

Thanks Chuck, I really think that would be a massive improvement for those of us involved in systems development and testing. the ability to import and export data (we already have export now) I think is central to any good system. But I take your point about splits and things. Thanks for...

Comments on eSignal 7.x and above

Hi Chuck I still can't help thinking that opening up the package to be able to use locally held data would be a good idea, and giving people the ability to store data locally would ease pressure on the servers. It's less the real time data connection that is the problem, but rather more...

    Higher market and lower volume

Aren't reversals usually also characterised with volume spikes? Wouldn't that indicate there would be more to come until a build in volume and a spike (which ties in with your 3rd dimension)? Natalie
