Short Time Frames Losing Their Edges?

so all these professors customarily have a oh, say, 20, 30 ES contracts out while teaching their classes right? of course, they're not all that interested in the money, they really love the teaching, but hey, why not make a few hundred thousand a year on top with a few simple predictions...

Short Time Frames Losing Their Edges?

it is kinda amusing isn't it. "don't trade, you might lose. better invest for the long term". and how do they recommend you invest? well, obviously no one can beat the market so you'd buy and index fund (and lop off 1-2% pa in fees too). which, as you mention, is so laughable considering that...

Short Time Frames Losing Their Edges?

inandlong, wouldn't a positive expectancy (whether developed through backtesting or experience) that you just apply by grinding out trade after trade be considered a 'statistical edge'. well, personally, that's how i conceptualize (my) trading.

Short Time Frames Losing Their Edges?

corso, don't forget it's got to be worthwhile -- big $$$ -- for an institution, or hedge fund, to after the shortest time frames. so they're probably always be stuff do make money from in the 1000-2000 share short term timeframe range...

Regarding the "I'm a Loser" threads

i can only hope that you made that statement out of convenience...not because you actually believe it.. if you do actually believe it, that alone should be enough to disqualify your opinion on this topic from any serious consideration.

Regarding the "I'm a Loser" threads

ok genius, so what sort of time frame should people be looking at? how long do people have to turn profitable before they "should not continue to trade, for their own good"? immediately? after 10 trades? 2 weeks? how long? obviously you are suggesting that there is an objective way...

Pray for the families of our lost astronauts

well, i would look at the knowledge that we gained from going on the space explorations and have a look at what kind of use we've been able to make of such information; in other words a 'measurement'. now, it could be well be that the kind of information we gained is so difficult to evaluate...

    A Moral Dilemma

well, not just in 'some way', they are all completely innocent. the thing is, by not diverting the train, you are simply allowing some event to occur. but by diverting the train, you are purposely taking someone's life.

Pray for the families of our lost astronauts

hmm, i'm not so sure that the benefits of space exploration have been 'immeasurable'... in fact, i tend to think that the world today wouldn't really be all that different at all... i think we'd really have to wait another 1000 or so years before we can determine just how valuable space...

Babak: well i'd eat the food and then surrender, but, yeah, once the pain of hunger became unbearable i'd surrender. now hit me with the other option (i have a feeling i know where this is going..) Gekko: so, essentially, you think it's OK to kill a completely innocent man in order to...
