OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

Overnight, would you stop being such a grumpy old man, especially someone who is doing something for free, at no cost to you? Chill dude. Yes, FUNDS. Yes, they hold STOCKS. Can you not put 2 and 2 together and see what I am trying to do here? I'm trying to see if anyone can come up with...

OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

50/50 SPXL and TQQQ since 2/11/2010 (TQQQ start date, SPXL was earlier): IRR - 31.83% Max DD - 73.51% QQQs same period was same as above for TrAndy's picks - IRR 16.9 and 35.12%. So, again, QQQ better in IRR/Max DD ratio. Do drop your portfolio % invested to get the same max DD as the QQQs...

OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

Dave, give me 2, 3 or 4 fund type things (ETFs, CEFs, ETNs, etc.), but not individual stocks, that you think might beat the market. The market being QQQs. Thanks!

OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

TQQQ pricing is the newest one, started 2/11/18 or thereabouts. A 50%/50% portfolio in TQQQ/UPRO would since 2/11/18 have an IRR of 32.04%, but a max drawdown of 73.49%. A IRR/max drawdown ratio of .436. QQQ over that same period has IRR of 16.9% and a max drawdown of 35.12%. A IRR/max...

OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

Guys, I'm not talking about individual stocks - obviously if we were going to do that we would just pick the best performing one in the past and it would be any index. I'm talking about fund type things. To see if we can see whether anyone can put together 2, 3 or 4 tickers that can beat the...

OK, give me your 2, 3 or 4 securities (stocks, CEFs, ETFs) that long term you think would do best

Pick 2, 3 or 4. I will test long term in Excel using yahoo data. The goal is to find ones that, collectively, give the best overall return to max drawdown ratio. Its got to be something with a stock ticker so I can easily get the data of yahoo finance. I will post results here. GO!

    Bottom Fishing

LOVE bottom fishing, even though it gets me burned a lot. Been averaging into VALE for awhile. Up a good bit. I need to read this whole thread. Mickey, when you bottom fish, do you study the company extensively? Their financials, their reports, when their debt is coming due, how their...

Can you guys sense the market pulling back like a snake, curling up, ready to launch higher again?

Can you guys not feel it? I sure can. Its coming. Will let you know when imminent if I'm on the site at the time. But get ready for it. Soon. It could be wrecked if some huge unexpected bad news comes out (which can wreck anything), but absent that it will strike higher soon. Don't miss...

TQQQ an OK investment over the long run? For a 401k

So, I guess may I should not be surprised - I can get a much greater return overall holding the TQQQs, but the return/drawdown ratio is worse, reflecting the "decay" or whatever it is of the leveraged TQQQ product. So I did some more testing. QQQ versus holding roughly 1/3 of your money in...

TQQQ an OK investment over the long run? For a 401k

I swapped out the IYR REIT ETF for VPU (utility ETF). Got a little bit better results, but still not as good overall as just holding the QQQs. This is very perplexing to me.

TQQQ an OK investment over the long run? For a 401k

Well shit. In my testing (non-DCA), just holding QQQs outperforms holding 20% TQQQs and 80% IYR (REIT ETF) since the inception of the TQQQs in 2010. The QQQs perform slightly better overall (IRR of 16.9%) than the mixed TQQQs/IYRs (16.66%), and the max drawdown on the QQQs is 35.12%, compared...

TQQQ an OK investment over the long run? For a 401k

Thanks everyone! To those who are saying it will go to zero (or something close to it), and I'll basically lose everything, I realize that if I were to put 100% of my money in it. But in my first post I specified that it would be something less than that, like 20% or 25% or something. So...
