    Is day trading worth it?

IMO problem with trading/investing is it attracts many gambler/get rich quick mentality people. And the prey attracts the predator. Hence so many scammers, false gurus etc. Nobody somehow advertises on the web how cool it is to become a neurosurgeon. Despite it's probably much more sure way to...

    Is day trading worth it?

While I am very thankful to a couple ET members who helped me so much, I must say they are not among the top posters here, quite the opposite. Most of our trading communication happened in private circumstances.

    Is day trading worth it?

Yep. Martial arts (let alone military) training also results in many scratches and bruises, but that's what makes a professional. :)

    Is day trading worth it?

Well, I am mental health professional as you know. :) And treat online attacks as sort of a training. With the possibility of even provoking some aggressive reactions at times to test certain concepts... not too often, though. :)

    Is day trading worth it?

Well, it was a valuable experience for me of operation in an aggressive environment. Happens in life. Our choice is either get distressed or become stronger. You only are abused if you accept it as an abuse. Which is not quite that in virtual online forum, where real life impact of such an abuse...

    Is day trading worth it?

It was an interesting experiment by all measures. I am glad to have that experience. Seriously.

    Is day trading worth it?

Oh, as for Surf, there are two Surfs and I have a pleasure to more or less know both, hence his "Mr. Hyde" side doesn't bother me too much. :) As for collaboration, I agree with you, but concluded that small, carefully selected working groups are much more productive.

    Is day trading worth it?

Yes, not going to say journals are completely useless for everybody. Just for myself I found more optimal ways and concluded too much public exposure is not that needed in relation to my personal trading results.

    Is day trading worth it?

Yes. That's why I have to admit large message boards are probably not very effective from the perspective of constructive professional communication, unless they are heavily moderated to keep topic strictly in the trend.

    Is day trading worth it?

I see. :) Speaking of failure in trading and any other business, there's mostly same reason: lack of skill. But how to gain skill in trading? Either learn from someone who's "for real" and (most importantly) is truly motivated to teach you or start from the scratch by watching various market...

    Is day trading worth it?

With all respect, sS, I would prefer to do it in more comfortable atmosphere than ET. :)

    Is day trading worth it?

Thank you, LF. Best of luck to you as well. In my view, trading is not a pipe dream, but one has to be ready to learn, make mistakes and learn again. And again and again. And there is no guarantee of success unless one is truly on the right track. Ego stops us from admitting our mistakes and...

    Is day trading worth it?

You're right. That was a stupid idea. I am not going to repeat that mistake once again. Recently I only drop my 2 cents in any threads on general matters and/or area where I am truly confident (psychology). If people truly want to know something, they just ask. No need to play guru and tell...

    Is day trading worth it?

Now in hindsight: both my approach presented in that journal and the journal itself were mistakes. That's it. Mistakes happen and (hopefully) make us evolve. :)

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

You benefit from more participants doing the same trade in case they don't compete with you for liquidity. If they do, publicly revealing exact entry points would be plain stupid, especially in less liquid markets. Having said that... I have witnessed a person once, who publicly revealed...

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

IMO that's very important to also spend 10K hours doing something actually reasonable for gaining desired skill. Just 10K hrs of doing something stupid (or even worse, repeating the same stupid algorithm again and again) unlikely helps. Thorough self-analysis, deliberate and honest wish to...
