Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

18 April 2008 Just an FYI. Over the last week I found myself trading a little more frequently than I had planned. I wanted to post this as an observation that it is really difficult to not take a profit when it is presented to you. I know that I said I'm shooting for more than my previous...

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

I'll say that again. Whew! We are at 110 and change today. My take on Frank Dilernia's model is that this cyclic move down should last for approximately 3 days. I have 106.50 as my first target. In any event, I've given a lot of thought to the broader equities market and as much as I...

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

I don't have time to get the official print, but my iqfeed is showing that we at least touched 118 00. That is another 16 tick minimum trade on a 1 lot if you had stayed in. Once again, I didn't hang on as it was way passed time to call it a day. 8 ticks is more than enough. Bottom line...

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

Whew! I got out around 118. After getting as high as 119.48, it closed at 115.80. It appears that model of cycling up to the 50% median line followed by failure is holding up. At least even if it continues on up I won't feel bad. The risk of holding is too great for a swing trade.

1054 CST We are between 118 16 and 118 17. We are below a 50% median line I use so we are in a sell zone. Ideal entry was 118 20. Keep a close watch on this. If no decisive break below 118 12 occurs then get out immediately. For now it looks like a good attempt for the lows of the...

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

Out of all SKF. I had a rather sizable amount of my 401K in it, and decided that I didn't want to risk giving back all that I had gained in less than a week. So, even though my Gann and standard cycle studies were saying I have a couple more days left, I decided to go with common sense. The...

0948 CST 118 12 is an excellent target for this latest short assuming you got in around 118 20. Yes we might break the lows of the day, but when you stop hoping and start working with legitimate targets you are on your way.

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

Important dates coming up on SKF. 17 April 2008 and 22 April 2008 My best guess, given the violent moves is that the 17th might be a good time to take any profits obtained from an earlier entry. Heck if you got in anywhere around 109 to 112, you might even consider exiting now at...

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

0850 CST I know that there are a lot of people who will come to this thread after the fact and will not believe anything written here. Here is the chart. Re-read what I posted above, BEFORE those times. Completely throw out any trades until after the 0730 report. My standard technique...

0845 CST No way that I will buy this market. I missed that drop once we broke 118 16 it was all over. This post is probably a contrary indicator by the way. In any event, I'm done. The two trades of the day were earlier. Good Trading!

Believe it or not, I'm not showing a lot of WGSR activity down here at 118 16 so I'm inclined to believe that continuing to short right here, right now is risky. Maybe at 0845.

Bond Trader 2008 (Swing Trading Bond futures, Stocks, and ETF's)

OK, last trade coming up at 0845. I may or may not take it. I'd still like to continuing shorting but I don't know if I'll get three excellent shorts in a row out of today. If we climb higher over the next 15 minutes, I would look again to short. If we stay down here, I would be tempted to...

Not a bad start to the day. Obviously looking to short at key areas.

Tuesday, 15 April 2008 0647 hrs CST ZB Something significant will happen between 0720 and 0750 based on the 30 minute cycle and Gann study I completed over the weekend. Based on the 5 minute cycles my times are as follows: 0755 0845 That is it for now. The first is a window...

    Backtesting Vs Trading Index Futures

I use no more than three calendar months of 1 min bar data for my various cycle projections based on neural network analysis, as well as various Tree classifier data mining methods. I agree with other posters. Anything longer than 3 months is too long. I've successfully trained on no more...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

In terms of the actual price quote itself, I don't really think there was any lag at all, but I really wasn't writing about a lag. Real-time quotes involve more than simply price. My calculations are dependent on every element of data being present and timestamped. I believe the short...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Just to nip any intense back and forth discussions in the bud, I'm not disagreeing with you. I am simply seeking to clarify the semantics of "real-time". If you are into data mining, mathematics etc, there is a difference in the end result depending on how "real-time" a real-time feed is.

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

I'm trading roughly the same numbers as you, maybe a little less. I used to trade significantly more. IB is really not real-time. It is close enough to say it is real-time, but a brief review of their method shows that it isn't. In addition, I perform various calculations on all data feeds...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

There are so many different opinions. First, get a good broker. I use IB, but there are others. IB provides a sort of real-time feed. It may be good enough for you depending on time frame. I've tried all of Quote.com services, all of DTN services, most of esignal services and many others...
