Billionaire investor on Elizabeth Warren as president: Market might not even open

Nope I am quite serious. Warren is currently in the lead. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/21/politics/iowa-poll-2020-democrats/index.html

Anybody Trades Gorilla Picks? Do it do?

There's no history of picks or track record anywhere on their site. Not even a hypothetical backtest. Why would I shell out $500 per year for something I am supposed to forward test?

Billionaire investor on Elizabeth Warren as president: Market might not even open

Actually Warren is only slightly behind gaffe-man Biden and is closing in. If the trend continues, she will be the top candidate in the primaries and will surely end up the Democratic nominee. After that it will be smooth sailing for Warren in the general election against Trump who's approval...

Will algos&AI take over? Is discretionary trading coming to an end?

Trading is a zero sum game so nothing is going to "take over". This topic is popular in the genre of drivel financial journalism.

Partitioning a large account to limit operational risk

don't have a link to that but you should talk to their institutional services helpline for info on that.

Partitioning a large account to limit operational risk

I have a LP structure at IB with 10 sub-accounts. I do this to isolate strategies for easier attribution. Note that the accounts are not 'fire-walled' from each other. In other words if you have a large margin event in one account, that margin counts toward the aggregate margin of all sub-accounts.

A crack just emerged in the financial markets: The NY Fed spends $53 billion to rescue the overnight

Negative rates around the world and now the Fed doing its first emergency overnight repo action since 2008. Perhaps there will be a violent dislocation very soon? The catalyst to the next GFC?

is anyone successful in pair trading?

Interesting pair of gold miners to retail. I typically would not have put this trade on because of the heterogeneous nature of the two industries. But maybe on the short term time frame, they are similar enough (both 'risk on' assets) and end up being a hedged divergence bet rather than a pair...

Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

Agree 100%. There's a certain ET member who seems to inject himself into and subsequently derail threads with his extreme rage and negativity, with never any intelligent or helpful trading advice. Maybe there have been personal issues in that member's childhood. Or maybe its a bad marriage or...

    New code is easy

But I have seen this ageism pattern alive and well even in big firms. People I know locally have been layed off in their mid 40's and 50's after having been employed for decades. And the ones still clinging to their jobs seem worried about their job security. These days its not just about the...

    New code is easy

Coding is a young man's game. If you're over 40 and have not graduated into management then you will likely be pushed out. Over 50 you are pretty much guaranteed to be put out to pasture. Best start think about self-employment ideas.

    Is VBA still worth learning?

Excel VBA is what I still use for about 50% of my backtesting and execution. A few years though ago I started to run into capacity limitations for some newer forms of research I got into, namely cross sectional analysis+ranking of securities. And when I started to analyze pair combos it got into...

    Why go pro?

I'm an RIA registered in multiple states and manage OPM. It's not as bad as you think. Get a compliance guy and he will do everything for you including your annual renewals, etc. Don't throw out a potential business opportunity for fear of the regulator. I was registered as a CTA in the past -...

Workers Are Fleeing Big Cities for Smaller Ones—and Taking Their Jobs With Them

Been to Boise recently on business. Not sure I'd want to live there, looks pretty dead. And a fund manager I met there said the Idaho income taxes are a killer. But I understand the dynamics of migration - I have been witnessing a slow but steady outflow of businesses and residents from NYC...

    America's Middle-Class Is Losing Ground to Canada's

No doubt the taxes in Canada are high. I have Canadian relatives that complain about it all the time. But their total burden is nowhere as high as in the failed American blue states (NY/NJ/CT), which I believe is the highest taxed region globally. Here you pay 2.5% to 3% of your home value in...

    Long Canada

Canada currently has one of the most overvalued property markets globally as well as off the charts household debt. Plus they are a resource based economy which will tank during the impending recession. I am short Canada.
