    Doomsday is Coming

Your map is a perfect match to the wealthiest economies on the planet, you know. Might be a reason for that.

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

You are wrong. Read the first few pages of The China Study: rural Chinese who had minimal meat in their diet ate MORE calories than the average American, but had significantly less in the way of heart disease, cancer, and cholesterol.

atticus' "ship it" vol trading journal

Figuring I should take some sort of profit on the put side already. 1.675 as I write this. Whaddaya think? I figure maybe sell a put to partially take some value off the table, a 15 or 14. Or am I then defeating the whole purpose of this trade? Been debating that in my head myself.

.15 on the fill on that trade just now. Messed up the spread a bit and wound up getting .625 when .65 was definitely doable, but managed to get the puts for 1.4; opening on that was 1.45, so made up for it just a bit on that side. I'll be watching with interest, to say the least.

Better, and fits perfectly w/what you said: sell 20/25 calls *2, buy one 17 put. Zip cost right now, and if it stays below 20, they (theoretically anyway, if you hold to expiry) go to zero and you get to play w/the 17 for free. I like that a lot.

Would a liberal admit Public Housing means a surge in crime in the area?

I swear, this place's P&R folks run about 30 or so years behind the times. More, in this case. The Death and Life of Great American Cities - written 50 years ago or so, and pointing out how poorly public housing does at housing people safely. Lots of cities have since taken to demolishing or...

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

The simplest solution, which I started for myself a while back, is to restrict meat to dinner. The result, according to one study, is to cut cancer/heart disease risk by 20%: [/b] http://www.rodale.com/meat-consumption Of course, I wind up having fish a couple of times a week, so in...

atticus' "ship it" vol trading journal

Like before, it's kind of impractical to sell a call naked. From what I can see, a good equivalent to your suggestion is selling the 17/23 call spread and buying the 17 put. Mid on that is .05 right now, on TOS.

Over here we're short Nov. Thursday was a great day for that. Just has to stay below 18 to keep us happy. Looked at the atticus suggestion, it's pretty neat. Might try it in a small way on Monday morning. (I did a little study and figured out VIX goes up more than 70% of the time from Friday...

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

Free Thinker's not focusing on the telling part, which is this: "- Pesco-vegetarians and semi-vegetarians who limit animal products, but still eat meat once a week or so, have "intermediate protection" against lifestyle diseases." Ceteris paribus, the more animal protein, the higher your...

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

Yes & no. Cars are commoditized, regardless of if it's a Mercedes or a VW. Yes, everyone tries to differentiate them, and they are higher quality, but it's hardly an advanced microchip or something. It's still just four wheels that get you from A to B. Profit is constrained by the commoditized...

No, you ass. It's because I kept on saying the Fed was ineffectual, and you kept on insisting on bringing them up as if I was defending them. You were erecting strawmen. You were parroting your party line without thinking, while I was trying to actually debate you on Mises vs Keynes. Keynes...

Any Good News for Obama Must Be a Conspiracy

The overreaction was funny. The report, if you look at it objectively, continues to show a deceleration in the pace of employment gains, and forecasts a continuing deceleration as well, especially in manufacturing; but even in services, if you're not in health care there's nothing good in that...

another supplement bites the dust. fish oil pills are a waste of money:

About the same age, and the PSA level on me is crazy low too. But PSA is not the be-all and end-all; just means your chance is low, not zero. As for milk, skim is better. But a litre is a lot. I just have a bit with breakfast cereal, the little bit that goes in the couple of cups of coffee per...

    Ludwig Von Mises

I've posted this before, here it is again, the ultimate judgement, as far as I'm concerned, on the mere competence of Mises, much less his relevance to anything going on now. Simplistic and demagogic is all Austrian economics is, and that started with its, as they say in anthropology, "culture...

To ask the question is to answer it. As for the rest, if you don't understand it, fine. I'm not here to teach you English. Try translating it into one of your other languages and then back to English. Maybe that'll help. Or not. I'm not interested in someone who responds as you do.

Red wine and dark chocolate are more fun. Seriously speaking, the less animal protein, the better. And definitely lay off dairy if you're an older guy. That stuff is lethal to the prostate. Not something the average dairy commercial is going to be pointing out anytime soon.

Please excuse me for cursing, but sometimes ya just gotta: HOLY FUCK! Did you not read what I wrote? Point me to where I advocated the Fed doing anything? Read my post again, and if you want, answer what I actually wrote. Or not, your choice.
