JP Morgan Sure Is Racking Up Sweet Deals

Reda and Associates. WaMu was not immediately available for comment."</i> Kudos to Alan...

Bernanke: Recession more likely without bailout

There is nothing wrong with a recession. It gets rid of excesses from the previous economic cycle. We are then stronger when the economy turns up. As I recall, every recession that we have ever encountered has always ended. Is it prudent for traders to continously leverage up to prevent...

    Bernanke today 9/23

Here's another one: "Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke bluntly warned Congress that it risks a recession, with higher unemployment and increased home foreclosures, if it fails to act on the Bush administration’s plan to bail out the financial industry."...

    Bernanke today 9/23

Exactly, these politicians are the weakest forward thinkers. When things were just starting in 2006, you should have been looking to make changes so we are not where we are in 2008/2009. Now in 2008, we should be looking to see how we can make the economy stronger when we begin the next up...

    Bernanke today 9/23

"I believe if the credit markets are not functioning, that jobs will be lost, the unemployment rate will rise, more houses will be foreclosed upon, GDP will contract, that the economy will just not be able to recover.'' - Bernanke, 9/23/08 It's called a recession. Call it a depression if you...

    Henry Paulson

This is what he says now: “There have been excesses for a long time,” Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said, denouncing “irresponsible practices” in which mortgages were extended to unqualified buyers, then “sliced and diced and sold all over the world.” “It’s terrible...

Can someone recommend a good PDF Editor?

I use Foxit for my PDF reader, and I have a PDF document that I have to take out a few pages. No editing of the document itself, just taking out a few of the pages, and making a new PDF. Is there a good shareware that can do this? TIA

CD's are maturing. Looking for steady managed accounts...

Fantasy? It might be. But Bestfriend did in fact state "4%-15% tax free return" in his original post of auction rate municipals. I don't know anything about the risk other than reading about several auction rate security blow ups, but the returns seem to be attractive.

CD's are maturing. Looking for steady managed accounts...

Interesting. I would be interested in the tax exempt high single digit returns at least. Around 4% and you can already get that from savings at a few banks. Where do you go to purchase and research the auction rate municipals?

CD's are maturing. Looking for steady managed accounts...

Many of my CD's which were earning 5% have expired or are about to expire soon so I'm looking for alternative investments. Please post in this thread any managed accounts info or sites which have long term positive records. I'm not interested in anything with negative years. At the same...

    IB's "Cash FX Translation Gain/Loss"

I'm now running into this same thing with my last month's statement. It is affecting my Options on Futures calculations. The net is the same, but the calculations are different. I don't trade currencies. If anyone knows more about this, or any IB rep here could shed some light on exactly...

Is this rally the real deal & start of a new uptrend?

What scares me the most is how "mispriced" this market can be up until the very last moment of truth. BSC went from $60 to $5 in 3 days. It took Enron at least 7 months to do that. So when people say all the negative is priced into the market. That is proof positive that it is impossible...

100bps cut tomorrow factored in already?

What would you like to see?

I definitely don't like these mid-day ramps off support. They are not even mild. They actually take the market up a good deal higher than I would expect to bail out stuck traders. What I would like to see is the Fed cut rates tomorrow 100 bps, and then the market crashes. That would be a...
