Half way through life and not close to being consistent

"If I wouldn't have a single position on and someone shows me a S&P or nasdaq chart I'd be short the next second, so while it may be self sabotage, it's my core believe that rallies like this are unsustainable." I agree about being unsustainable, BUT.... I believe that shorting is more...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Gamblingman, I suggest it may be worth looking at psychological aspects of your trading. It is not unknown for a trader to be prone to 'self - sabotage', if the trader hold some subconsious belief which conflicts with trading profitability. This can be the result of a change in personal...

Yes as I say, every trader is different. BPS = basis points. 100 BPS = 1%. My daily target is 100 BPS.

Diary of an LSE stock trader

"Did you mean to let the first trade go 10 points against you?" Well I held that one overnight, so it could have gone a lot more against me. My error was getting out before it went to 1610.5 on Monday morning. Such is trading.

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

No, I will often carry positions for several days, weeks even. I attribute my high win rate to a couple of factors: 1 I trade a very small list of shares (about 6 regular tickers actually). Most of these I have traded hundreds of times. So I sort of get to know them, how they move. 2 I use...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Hmmm... that's got to hurt. I absolutely HATE to have a losing day trading, but a losing week is pretty much a disaster for me. Fortunately I haven't had one this year (yet). And thankfully I have no mortgage to worry about.

Diary of an LSE stock trader

JTrades, I used to trade via CFDs, but for smallish size, the commissions kill the P&L. Here are this week's trades on AAL: SB spreads probably cost me > 20 points in total.

I don't wish to sound negative, but if you can't beat the index, then it would seem better to just invest in a tracker fund.

Seems to me that the markets rally & you lose money. Why not cut the trade size on short trades by 75% ? Or just trade on the long side ....?

It might be interesting to compare your weekly P&L to the change in the SPX500. This week I have the SPX up 23.47 points or 1.22%. I try to beat the index each week. This week I fell short.

    Feedback appreciated. My Journal Begins...

"I understand the idea of letting winners run. With a nice account, once could easily trade 3 cars, and pull a car or two out for some profits, letting 1 or 2 continue. With 1 car, you have to be very precise. Your stop has to be perfect, your R:R analysed to a t, and sometimes, maybe you have...

    New look of ET

The deletion of images from the journals shows a complete lack of respect for ET members. People post on ET because they think that their posts will be around for a while, not just deleted when the managers want to do an 'upgrade'. Very poor show in my 'umble opinion. And I cannot be the only...
