    Daytrading with SIZE

Ok I looked up the post and found the spot on the CME site regarding contract limits. The limits apply to all GLOBEX traded index futures and is 250 contracts: Previously discussed at: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=47647&highlight=250#post47647 CME's Globex...

    Daytrading with SIZE

250 contracts at a time applies to all Globex traded products. I've had this conversation on another thread it seems. I think the 50 was the presplit # of contracts and the 30 was the post split # but it was so long ago that I could be wrong and it was always just 30. As far as average size...

    Daytrading with SIZE

For ES and NQ you can trade up to 250 on a single order and the overall position limits are similar to those for the big contracts (IIRC S&P was 5K cars). The limit used to be 50 but that was lifted a while ago. After it was lifted the liquidity on the minis just took off.

    Trading Maxims/Quotes II

You see, you hesitate. But as a captain you can't. You have to act. If you don't, you put the entire crew at risk. Now that's the job. It's not a science. You have to be able to make hard decisions, based on imperfect information, asking men to carry out orders that may end up in their death...

    Trading Maxims/Quotes II

I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again because it cannot be overemphasized; The most important change in my trading career occurred when I learned to DIVORCE MY EGO FROM THE TRADE. Trading is a psychological game. Most people think they're playing against the market, but the market...

    Scalping and Trading

Not only that but as soon as you find something that works the key is to stop trying everything else, and just keep on trying the thing that is working.

tws appears 90% off my screen

Are you accessing it via the ActiveX API? It may be opening one of those modal dialogs or maybe it just crashed. Try pressing enter or esc to get rid of a dialog off the screen then try moving it as I describe above. If it starts up this way every time the coordinates are probably off as saved...

    Time to get real long??

Is unemployment "high" by historical standards (or approaching that level)? Is inflation really "high" by historical standards (or approaching that level)? Are the traditional measures of inflation and unemployment accurate since they've been changed so many times over the years and leave so...

    Trailing Stop in IB's TWS

Ok I'll prove it once and for all. Take the word "TRAILING" subtract letters #2, #6, #7 and #8. There, that proves trailing stops are evil.

tws appears 90% off my screen

Or right click on the TWS icon in the taskbar and click the move option in the popup menu. Press one of your arrow keys (up/down/left or right) then move the mouse around until the window is where you want it then click to have it drop in place.

What is the evidence of stagflation? (not trying to be cute - just hadn't heard anyone else mentioning it).

If they didn't go up and down often, what else would markets do?

Wow, now that's a cliche minefield. If Don King ever keels over, I think you might be the man for the job, Pussy. Dark, Nice to see you back and keeping it real for the rest of us.

    Time to get real long??

Good point. Especially true if the buying is for a long term investment. Long term moves take time to set up. Looking back at some of the historical reversals, there is always time to get confirmation and get into the move.

    Time to get real long??

The difference between long and short term predictions is that by the time the long term prediciton is either proved or disproved, everyone has forgotten what was predicted.

I think FPC already posted that one of the reasons for the journal was ego gratification. Of course anyone who posts will have that to a greater or lesser extent. I guess it depends if he is trying to prove something to us or trying to learn/teach. Time will tell as we continue to read his...

    Is Daytrading a Random Event?

Each trade, whether daytrade or long term has a random outcome. If you trade with a method that conforms to the nature of the market then you should be able to make $$$ over the long run. If your method is random then your long-term success will also be random. If you use a systematic...
