Logitech G5 Laser Vs. Mx 518 -- corded Mice for large hand

I second that. I have been through many mice and the MX5xx series is by far the best as far as comfort, sensitivity, price and longevity. Good luck.

will more memory help a heavy proccessor load ?

It would seem to make more sense to me to start by adding memory to see what the result would be. I would think, though, at current PC costs, you would want to add a second PC that runs your IE, messenger, TV Tuner, etc. A machine that is dedicated for that. For example, I use Beyond TV for...

will more memory help a heavy proccessor load ?

The DDE links in Excel were using up a lot of processor time. The main culprit when running CQG on my X-Trader machine is CQG itself. It is a hog because I'm running many screens with studies on each. The Excel spreadsheet does the calculation for fast cash and then forwards that data to my...

A few basic questions on getting a new laptop

Couldn't agree with you more. I got one of those for my sister for college and it gets 10 mins on batteries after 1 yr and it constantly needs a rebuild for corrupting files. Last week, I ended up replacing the Toshiba hard drive and the cheap memory sticks they put in them. It is now humming...

A few basic questions on getting a new laptop

I have had the MX510 for some time and it is by far the best trading mouse I have ever had. Will be picking up a couple of 518's now that I know about them.... always need spares for the office. Happy clicking...

Wait til after the Holidays for new set up?

Been buying hardware quite regularly for several years. You will most likely find that the best deals for the year are rolling out now. Keep visiting bargain websites like www.techbargains.com or www.gotapex.com to find good deals on electronics and computer soft/hardware. Good luck.

Thanks, Neo. I will keep that in mind.

will more memory help a heavy proccessor load ?

Curious... what is ATIMMC and why is your Internet Explorer using up so much memory? Are you using a browser based quote system? I have tried the suggestion to reduce the priority of Excel before because I was using it for my fast cash on the FDAX with DDE to CQG. That was a mistake in my...

    Wireless Access Point or Router

Thanks. I was able to get it from Linksys directly. It is on the same page as the link for that router provided earlier. Thanks all.

    Wireless Access Point or Router

I went ahead and got the Linksys router. I'm going to dump the AT&T router. It has always been weak as far as quality and support. Funny thing is that one of the neighbors has that same Linksys router I just bought at his home and I can see it when I do a wireless network scan from my...

    Wireless Access Point or Router

You guys are fast. :) I appreciate the replies. I am running DSL through the router. The wireless connection is not for trading. I would just like to be able to access CQG data and the internet while roaming instead of being confined in my office for work. The transfer speed issue is not a...

    Closing Prices with extended hours

Actually, until the hours were extended from 20:00 CET to 22:00 CET, the closing price for the futures has always been the last print at 20:00 CET. With the extended hours, it appears that they have reverted all the way back to the closing price when the cash closes at 17:30 CET. This is a bit...

    Major problem, help please.

Do you have another similar computer or one with the same RAM? I would guess that you have a bad stick of RAM in there. If it doesn't go through the boot process at all, then your problems are RAM, a motherboard short, a CPU that is not seated well, etc.

    Closing Prices with extended hours

The closing prices reported by CQG and TT for the FDAX and FESX don't seem to match what I see on the chart. For example, the closing price on my chart is 5202.0 for the FDAX yesterday. Both TT and CQG show the market at +6.5 pts at that price. This means that according to these two independent...

What service you use to connect to the Internet?

Using private T-1 to Chicago from DC for trading and Verizon for DSL to run charts/internet access. I can't stand cable. Never had good luck with it. 5Mbps down and 1.7Mbps up. Never had failures or interruptions with DSL but had plenty with Comcast and Cox. Besides, I don't like sharing bandwidth.

Isn't it better to use a switch and a modem with one cpu per monitor?

You would need separate licenses for each CPU and will need to do a lot of file transfers to work with the multiple monitors that way. This is not to mention the cost of the hardware, power requirements, etc.

    Extended Trading Hours

Yes, there is a big difference and, no, it is not the same as RTH. During post-trading, you can enter inquiries, market orders, limit orders and stop orders for the next day. There is no market to trade at this time. Your DOM will be blank and you will only see the "last price" indicator...
