    Marketsurfer says short shake shack

Well I trade futures but it would be common to position at a reasonable price point with acceptable risk early knowing that there may be some tree shaking / weak hand testing coming up. My usual preference is to get in on those moves but there are sometimes ambiguous areas where it might look...

    Marketsurfer says short shake shack

I've seen your 150+ scaling *out* is inferior behavior thread, we don't need another one. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to consider risk before position size and adjust the latter accordingly. You trade your way, I'll trade mine.

BofAML: Hedge Funds Increase Net Long Exposure to Equities, Crude Oil

Too funny. BUY BUY BUY.. wait SELL SELL SELL! And these are hedge funds.

    Conditional Orders With Interactive Brokers

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/?f=%2Fen%2Ftrading%2Forders%2Fconditional.php Doubt you can do relative stuff though. You could create a virtual instrument in TWS that you might be able to use as an input though.

    Nothing but China ?

Myself, as well, I never figured out how to trade MHI or HSI. They don't seem to move with any "normal" or reasonable price action and resemble the DAX after a few hits of acid. The only time I didn't lose money was trading MHI/MCH.HK spreads.

    Marketsurfer says short shake shack

Scaling in (provided we're talking moves that are going against the trader) reduces risk (assuming they would have had that size anyway) while having the same reward in the end. In cases where it takes off from you then overall risk vs reward isn't negatively affected (although max profits are)...

This is how much it costs to eat lunch with Warren Buffett

I find it interesting that the whole importance of eating steak with Warren usurps any importance of the charitable need itself.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Everyone knows China markets are going to crash in a spectacular manner - it's just a matter of when. It's pretty much 1999 over there.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Are you kidding? Most people are fed up with the continuous bubble being pumped.

    Marketsurfer says short shake shack

The game is always about which side can get screwed the most. Only in pure panic selling or buying do we actually see unmolested moves without prior positioning.

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

I'm done arguing with this dude about leverage. He obviously doesn't get the concept of a working trading margin and notional exposure plus likes to argue with nonsensical strawmen arguments in attempts to boost his point. Use leverage reasonably and you'll be fine.

Who Here Backtests Manual Strategies ?

I personally think that there's so much *context* used with discretionary strategies that back-testing would be a wash. It's not really back testable if you cannot codify it - and if you can, it's probably not discretionary anymore.

Breakout Trading - Smart Play or Fool's Game?

Seems like a double-bottom, back up to the red arrow level. Who knows, we'll see what tomorrow holds for things.

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

I trade NQ, CL, TF, GC, DX, 6E, some energy and equities based spreads, and whatever else moves consistently. Care to explain how I'm "correlated" to the S&P500 other than the obvious? Do you seriously think the futures traders here are putting on positions and managing their "portfolios"...

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

Yes let's do some math because apparently you're missing the point. If you have a 1,000,000$ account you're trading size accordingly otherwise you're not going to be making a sustainable living. Your problem here is you're confusing over-leverage with leverage. You're equating them as if any...

    Rate rise tantrum

The fed can try everything it wants. If there's not enough buying pressure because the collective perception isn't strong enough to support the valuations then sooner or later it will be revealed that the emperor is indeed wearing no clothes.

    New VIX ETF.....VXUP and VXDN

This is why when I want to trade VIX I just go long or short the futures or future spreads. Sure they're not immune from contango but its a hell of a lot simpler.

    Tastytrade Review + Criticism

Options do not carry enormous risk, in fact they're not even the issue. What carries enormous risk is selling far OTM options such that the reward is *less* than the risk while the entire trade relies on probability to make any money. If you're short options that are OTM enough such that their...

Thinking About Going Full Time Trading - Want to Make $100K a Month

If you have a non gimmicky edge, an instrument with liquidity, and the ability to trade it without the size affecting your decisions then yes. Personally I don't think people who have the skills to pull 100k a month on a 100k account would even be asking how. You've pretty much got to work your...

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

IMO a solid trader can get by with 100-200k in an account. I'm talking futures with leverage of 6-20x. Equities need more.
