Trading & the Zero Sum Game Debate

It is strange that people were obsessed and spent so much time debating zero sum game issue. If a person is looking for sympathy or he feels like a victim when he loses, he better stays out of this arena and find something else to put in his effort.

    Is day trading worth it?

I think we are talking two different things: What I meant was for those people trading 100-200 contracts, they would normally risk only a few ticks, not 50 points, and they have a smaller profit targets like 1-3 points (not 20 to 100 points), so in this way they only stay in the market for a...

The closest thing to the holy grail is.....

Holy Grail? You need to come up with something truly original, not only technically but more importantly conceptually that is beyond those conventional concepts like supply and demand, support and resistant so on and so forth.

    Is day trading worth it?

People probably are not going to trade 100 contracts of ES at a time in LT mode, but people could easily put in 100 or even more in scalping trades that lasts from 30 second to 2 minutes for sure, if your system is like risking 2-3 ticks max and targeting 1-3 points with a high win rate; It all...

    Questions About Being A Trader

Probably he was not that interested in the accounting major, and honestly accounting is quite boring as a major and is not intellectually challenging as well. Pay is also moderate, not as good as those computer/engineering college graduates that earn around 100K right out of colleges in the west...

    MINDFULNESS

Most of these psychological problems are always associated with those inferior and mediocre systems they are trading with. So they spend most of their energy and effort to fine tune/improve/discipline their psycho status, and after another 20-30 years of trading, they are still struggling with...

HP 2 in 1 Tablet PC-- Buy or Don't??

I have used laptops/tablets from HP, Sony, Fujitsu, Asus, Dell, Lenovo/IBM, and MS Surface Pro. At the moment, Surface Pro is the best, and Lenovo is pretty good too.

    The Trouble With Scribbles

Realistically it is hard for people with discretionary systems to make many real time calls, because of so much of uncertainty or contexts surrounding the potential entry signals; on the other hand, for the few that can handle real time calls consistently and without any hesitation, you can bet...

    The Trouble With Scribbles

True confidence is built up only when you have a thorough understanding of the market dynamics and you have a reliable profitable system and you can execute it in real time. Winning streak alone wouldn't provide everlasting confidence.

    The Trouble With Scribbles

Good profit. Just a bit curious, Aug 24 and Aug 31 (2013) were all Saturday, how could you day trade? Unless these statement days are not the correct days that you placed your trades. Anyway, it is not important, and you don't need to answer that. That statement was two years ago, and I think...

    ES Journal - 2015

Don't you think people have other systems that would identify trend initiation and termination, differentiate trend strength and trend quality that are different from your SLA?

You need a retest of high and the confirmation of downtrend. What if the price keeps sliding down from here, or only bounces half way and resumes the downward movement?

    Trading the SLA/AMT Intraday

Once I read a story that a math professor stepped into a classroom one morning, and he started to write equations after equations and half-talked to himself and half-explained to the whole room of confused students on and on, and when the class was over, the professor said to himself: ha, I now...

    Whilst in college...

To be fair, If you read it carefully, he didn't imply his max attention was 10m: " The first 1-2 candidates had my full attention and at least 5 minutes of my time. 10 minute after the official open the line was over an hour long. I remember almost nothing of the last several hours." 1) "The...

Good profit. Just curious, 172 trades over how long a period? Your last trade lasted a whole month, but presumably some trades may be over in a couple days after you placed your position/swing plays.

    2014: The Battle for Survival

How about just using option to trade so you don't risk all the capital. Say, you use 2% of fund for each trade, and you cap your max positions at 10 at anytime. So your max lost is 20% at worst in case of a black swan event, as options give you more than 5X leverage over stocks.
