Compensation for traders at top firms?

good point, sometimes the obvious really does get lost when wishful thinking takes over, or is sometimes helped along when false illusions are created as in, eg, franchising etc, but even then it always takes two to tango.

don, apart from that about the working for somebody who will likely fire you, i do agree with the rest, and also RE the franchise stuff. cheers

Compensation for traders at top firms?

agreed, but even then at some point you'll run into a physical barrier of how much you can handle alone. a way around that, and if you want to stay in the intraday time frame, is having others trade your money. and so on.

Compensation for traders at top firms?

candle, time frame as in compounding for achieving geometric growth... you cannot compound on an ongoing basis when trading in very short time frames due to eventual liquidity limitations. cheers

Compensation for traders at top firms?

reading a statement like this on a thread where much of the focus has been on whether it's better to go institutional or trade at a prop broker makes you wonder if that was said in the heat of the moment or if this is marketing gone wild... go trade at a prop broker and i would presume that...

    Stock Pick Site:

well, it's friday, hehe, so here goes... the only thing that could reliably tell you if all these "vendor gurus" are still any good, if, indeed, they ever were all that good, hmm, would be if they actually, oh dear, traded... and actually shared the quantifiable results of their trading...

agree fully, bruce... bit funny how this seems to crop up so much... and i haven't even been here for ages... ah well... always takes two to tango, i suppose.

hehe, sabena, ambition is always good - i'm understanding the above as a joke -, and as i said before, i'm certainly wishing you well and looking forward to following your process... suggestion: if your ultimate goal is the largest market anyway, and as, apart from liquidity considerations...

well, ehh, robert, that is the point, actually.... that's compounding... you cannot turn 11k into 18 million within the time span he did if you just have positions of 10k, or just have positions that don't increase/decrease along with your growing/shrinking equity, in time frames and...

now that is really crazy, $ 5000,-.... geez... i mean trading is really simple, right, simple and stable entries, simple and stable exits, accepting there is no holy grail, and sizing your positions depending on your appetite and your willingness to maybe, hehe, have to go back to drive a...

robert, not sure what marketing scheme you mean, have to add that the only thing i know about zanger is the fortune article and the numbers on his web site... model acct 1999 + 1,833,310 (61 trades, about 28 losers @ average of $12,139, then 33 winners @ average of $55,554. ) model acct...

well ok, but i believe that when trading the exits are much more important than the entries, and he certainly did that just perfectly... plus, apart from that hedge fund mess up of his, he subsequently managed to stay pretty much in cash in the ensuing bear, and as for hedge fund bust ups in...

hmm, i'd say that anybody who's turned 11k into 18 million ! ! !cannot be compared to somebody who wants to earn the rent from trading - entirely different ball game altogether... what zanger did is absolutely incredible and can obviously only be achieved with volatile results - big ups, big...

    Looking for a Proprietary Firm...

i'll just paste it here: Active Trader magazine Read the fine print Some proprietary trading firms may give traders access to money, but not the ability to fully profit from it. Understanding the conditions of your agreement is crucial to your financial health. By ROBERT A. GREEN...

    Looking for a Proprietary Firm...

hmm, they do not claim in the article that a firm would charge $25,000 a month in expenses. see http://www.activetradermag.com/business.htm for an excerpt of the article that however contains the salient points. cheers

limbo, i'm just completely dazed and horrified by somebody who is able to write something filled with such unbelievable and contraproductive hatred as that. btb, i also have a friend who is also a former colleague of mine in the wtc who is as of now still unaccounted for, but to be realistic...

    **Patriots First...Traders Second**

limbo, first, i most strongly disagree with your assesment on the basis that it is just unbelievably racist and inflammatory, but more importantly it is most absolutely factually wrong as you would realise if you had even the most perfunctory idea of arab history... second, the crimes and...

    **Patriots First...Traders Second**

limbo, absolutely not, terrorism is terrorism, anyway, that was not the point, the point in the article was a generic **how should states most effectively deal with terrorism in order to achieve lasting solutions** and the answer is that violence has not and cannot eliminate terrorism in...

shortnfool, nobody is advocating that. as jaan put that very succinctly already RE nick i'll just let his words stand, but let me add Ambassador Oakelys poignant assessment of what finally made the northern irish peace agreement possible after almost a century of armed conflict, the fact that...
