I thought this would be an interesting discussion. I have been day trading ES, NQ, and YM being flat at 4:00 PM EST leaving no open positions. There are a whole list of reasons why traders do it this way. Way lower margin requirements, no overnight crazy news to effect your positions...

thankx... I did get me broker on the line.. got my answer... it is about $6000 per contract right now.. up from about $5000 due to the recent volatility

For the average broker,,, what are the required USD $$ amounts to hold over the day's close for ES, NQ, and YM please.

for anyone that cares.... daily High to low 10 yr / 48pts 5 yr/52pts 1 year/60pts since Jan 1,2018 10 days of over 100 Pt range and now 4 of over 200 pt in last week

UHH no ,, my post was not meant to brag in any way... if you read it... I lost a 80 point winning day and ended up with a large loss yesterday, because I did not stop trading after about 90 minutes. Today... I made my profit and turned the whole thing off.... net net, I am down over the 2...

OMG it's not that complicated.... I track my results for the day as Net Points won or lost... and then back out approx $4.2 round trip per contract... as mentioned.. it is about $1460 minus approx $58 in commissions and exchange fees... about $1400 net but none of that is even the point...

Well said NeoTrader only one poster besides yourself has said anything positive... I have found this forum to be very negative in general. When I look at all posts, not just mine. It seems some of you get your kicks out of just bashing and such. and yes to the previous poster... I banked...

Stop/market.... so it converts to a market order when touched... USUALLY it is the same price, but not always like yesterday.... honestly had I paid enough attention to the price action I would have stood on the sidelines... the NQ was putting in 60+ pt moves on 5 minutes bars... normally...

I hear you... I had a stop that blew straight thru my limit and executed at a much lower price to exit my long on NQ trade yesterday... UGLY! but this is the very first time it has happened in over a year that I can recall... it is rare and I still firmly believe in stops on every trade

HMM let's do some scorekeeping... my haters all have 1000's of posts... maybe you guys spend more time on trading and learning and less on telling everyone on this forum how they should act.....

traded for just 30 minutes,,, I have a great profit for the day (up 73 points NQ trades) and I am done. I am putting this hear mostly for accountability... yesterday I had a 80 point profit and pissed it all away and ended up with a loss for the day!! Not happening today... hope all are...

I gave up on IB after numerous issues.. including the lockout that lasted a few days recently and could not log in.... Sure they have low commissions , but look at the service you receive I went back to a Broker I have used for years... I can always get thru 24/7 immediately on the phone to...
