John McAfee indicted in connection with crytpo pump-and-dump scheme

This analogy is not accurate. The reason is... If Bitcoin were to be accepted as the global currency, then the amount of value it would have to represent and be used as currency for would increase substantially from what it is now. So it would be like if Yogi's pizza increased in size by 1000x.

There is no maximum for paper. There is also no maximum for Bitcoin because you can continue to divide it into smaller increments. Similar to how a stock can split. So while you could say it's 21 million (minus the amount that is lost permanently), this doesn't tell the whole story because you...

Paper (fiat) money = no intrinsic value other than its use as a currency Gold = no intrinsic value other than its use as a currency Crypto= no intrinsic value other than its use as a currency There is no advantage to crypto over fiat. Most fiat already is digital anyway. The only actual...

Ok. So it's value is that it can be used as a currency. But we already have a currency (USD) so we don't need another. People always talk about the "gold standard" as if it's necessary to have paper money "backed by gold," but this is false. Current currencies work just fine without being...

I disagree that gold or silver have intrinsic value. They wouldn't do you much good if you were stranded on an island or couldn't exchange them for cash.

Solar could. But it would require building some massive solar farms. Covering like 5-10% the area of Arizona. And battery technology would have to catch up, cause remember electricity is generated and used in real time. It's either saved in a battery or wasted.

Most money already is digital. Every time you use a debit card, it's digital. No currency can function without a central bank to keep it's value stable. If I had $10,000,000 and had the choice of keeping it in USD or Bitcoin, I would have to pick USD because of the chance of a bubble...

It's actually the "apps" way of taking Bitcoin from your wallet. You and I both agree that Bitcoin will go up in value. But we disagree on why.

No they don't. The "app" that allows you to use Bitcoin at Starbucks actually pays them in USD. Then they take Bitcoin out of your wallet for themselves. At no point does Starbucks possess any Bitcoin.

I just called them. They don't accept it unless maybe it's linked to a PayPal account. Which I'm pretty sure means it's converted back to cash.

So I'll ask them at the drive thru if they accept Bitcoin?

I'm hungry. I'm about to go get some food and probably some coffee. Any clue how bitcoin can help me do this without converting back to cash first?

I'll change my mind when we can use Bitcoin to buy gasoline, groceries, health insurance, mortgage payments, etc.

John McAfee indicted in connection with crytpo pump-and-dump scheme

I wouldn't call it that exactly... I would say there's a very good chance that Bitcoin goes past $100,000 within 12 months and over $500,000 or $1,000,000 within a decade... But I think the reason for that is because of the demand caused by illegal activity, along with associated speculation by...
