That's pretty good, but from my experience it's hard to get a bigger slippage than 2 ticks on average for ES (per trade) and that includes trades triggered by a stop order and/or exited at market at the close.

    why pay anything?

Maybe for you, others with the $20,000 bankroll can pull $5,000-$10,000 each and every month trading eminis.

    why pay anything?

If you can simplify things to the point that your trading does not depend on what tools you use (and so you can use even cheaper ones) than you are truly in the biz and you know that your edge is for real. Otherwise, you are just masturbating yourself in public showing off that you are a big...

    Example Trading System

Systems like that require more volatile markets to produce real profits. That's why it works well for ER2 and not for ES. For YM it does OK, but YM is more volatile than ES or at least it used to be because things are changing...

    Trading Woodie's CCI ;-)

Well, so why did you expect the Woodie stuff to work in a non-trending market? In a market with no clear trend you are most likely to get random results. You trade when you see a trend or anticipate it (if you can do this) or else you stay put. That's all there is to trading. Woodie's stuff is...

It's not. They have a free manual that explains what it is.

First of all you start trading a system like that when it is experiencing a significant drawdown, but before you do even that you may want to do a Monte Carlo analysis to see what kind of drawdowns to expect. The past drawdowns can serve as some indication too. The MC analysis is widely used in...

    MedVed QuoteTracker Software

Not a problem for me... I can always use QT as it is free and have used it from time to time in the past. But SC charts are cooler. You somehow cannot get QT charts to be as black as SC charts...  :D

96? Perhaps, but how many of them are really different? Here is one example: On Balance Volume, On Balance Volume - Cumulative, OBV with Moving Average. They are listed as different by the SC manual. This is essentially one indicator with different inputs or some overlay. In some more...

    MedVed QuoteTracker Software

QT has been steadily adding indicators which is why I was using it at some point instead of Sierrachart that is not as indicator-rich as QT, so your statement that most charting applications have more indicators than QT may not necessarily be true. But it's not only about indicators... I would...

    Example Trading System

The statement that the secular bear has anything to do with the system performance is as suspicious to me as the Thursday effect. This is a volatility based intraday system. Are you suggesting that the long term (monthly) market trend can have impact on this system performance? I would find it...

    Example Trading System

This statement makes no sense: you cannot make a statement like that and pretend that it has any predictive power unless you specify the timeframe. What does it mean 'forward'? Months, years, decades? The performance is likely to fluctuate in the long run (years) depending on the market...

Thanks for your reply. One more question: do you calculate these ranges using the daily trading session closing at 17:00 ET or some other time? I am asking this question as the exit is not at the daily session close, but an hour earlier and yet in your article you say at some point that the...

I understand that TR on your website is what is more commonly known in the literature as True Range as defined by Wilder and ATR is Average True Range, again as defined by Wilder. You are using somewhat different names for these things which may cause a bit of confusion... If TR is not True...

    Best Data Feed for ES

    tampa's Revenge

Samson is biased, just as most people are, and certainly all successful people. You have to be biased in what you are doing, meaning, you have to believe in what you are doing in order to succeed. But on the other hand, Samson makes much more sense than an average Woodie basher.
