    Option Premium Time Decay?

Have you backtested either strategy for the past 12 years? Do you think that you get that weekend time value for free? You do realize that a covered call is an identical position to naked short a put? Shorting puts saves you the spread and commissions on the underlying. Shorting puts is...

    IB balance sheet leverage

You are not looking at balance sheet leverage in the right way. You want to look at the total of assets that might suffer a significant loss of value versus the capital. First the asset side. Cash, cash equivalents and well collateralized receivables are not at risk. Of IB's $33 billion in...

    Tax Avoidance on the Rise

The US tax code has always been about politics. It was politics that got the Sixteenth Amendment passed and got us the tax code abomination that we have today. Evil done is never undone.

    ES newbie

Did you write all new Java code to work with the IB API or did you start with 3rd party Java code? You can also try using ES as the signal basis for your ES trades and see if it gives better or worse results than using SPX.

    Tax Avoidance on the Rise

Tax avoidance and tax evasion are two different things. The first is legal, the second is not. Do you claim exemptions and deductions on your income tax return? If yes, then congratulations you are a tax avoider. The most agressive corporate tax avoider is GE. The biggest individual...

IB does not require you to subscribe to any data feeds. " There is no requirement to subscribe to market data in order to trade, and customers are free to receive market data from another IB account or data vendor, or to use only delayed market data." With no data feed, If you don't pay at...

    Whats going on with Pension?

Penson pros: Not run by Jon Corzine or people who associate with Jon Corzine. Penson cons: Undercapitalized relative to customer assests. PNSN market capitalization of only $35 million (a fraction OF IB's quarterly profit). Incompetent management. Bad business model that...

    Don Miller...

FuturePath Trading is an IB, not a FCM. Clearing through MF means the funds are held are MF. Don Miller switching to the Photon platform just means using FuturePath Trading as an IB with the account funds still held at the same clearing firm as before: MF Global.

Broker with IB like stock comms without inactivity fees?

I think that you will find that all the bottom feeder low cost brokers use Penson as a clearing firm. eOption is one that charges $3.00 for unlimited shares and looks to have no inactivity fees (best to check with them).

    Fios and upgrade vs. Comcast

FIOS FTTP is superior technology compared to Comcast cable technology. Higher FIOS speeds will not give you better ping times. The width of the pipe from you to your ISP (upload/download speed) has nothing to do with the length of the pipe (time to travel on ISP network to web server and...

    Broker - Relfects Incorrect Information

What "incorrect information on the account" would keep you from closing out a position? I can understand "incorrect information on the account" not allowing you to open a position, but you should always be able to close out a position. My advice would be to dump your current broker and get...

Anyone pulling money out of MF Global?

No it won't. The "S" in SIPC is for "Securities". Futures brokers and futures clearing firms are not covered by the SIPC.

Trying to find a direct access broker to start trading

Are you going to believe everything that is said about Interactive Brokers rather than researching the facts for yourself? Every broker is required by SEC Rule 606 to publish a Quarterly Order Routing Report. Here is the link to IB's SEC Rule 606 report for 3rd Quarter 2011...
