    Trader Personality vs Style

For the more experienced guys out there, do you have any observations about how a person's personality can lead to him choosing a particular approach to trading? Maybe you have noticed personality traits common to scalpers, systems traders, swing traders etc?

    Starting my own hedge fund

Just from something I read ages ago, I think $10-$50m aum is around the minimum. If you want to trade a 20k-100k account get backed by a prop shop or just trade your own account. Small accounts are optimal for daytrading, you pretty much wont get any slippage unless you trade pennystocks or...

Is Real Estate a much superior inflation hedge compared to gold?

pretty sure houses are positively correlated with inflation. Lower interest rates = more borrowing = greater money supply and inflation. People buy houses when the interest is low.

How to enter prop trading with a trading strategy and some problems?

I am super late, but topsteptrader will fund you if you pass their combine. You have to pay for the combine.

    Starting my own hedge fund

More out of curiosity than anything, what are the steps someone would have to do to start a hedge fund?

These days pretty much everyone goes through funded trader prep. So funded traders will have passed that as well as the combine. Its funded trader rules on sim pretty much, with half profit target. Pressure steps up a notch here as well, and when you transition to live pressure steps up again...

Prop Trading Firms for Experienced Traders

I really dont think there is a discrepancy between trainees and experienced traders. I think the demand for experienced traders is higher because again, proven track record. One well known firm, DE trading, actually has no current positions for trainees but they are open to experienced traders.

Prop Trading Firms for Experienced Traders

Actually pretty much every prop firm I know of will take on experienced traders and have a separate application for them. More so than new traders because experienced traders are a safer bet.

    Looking for Futures Trading Mentor

I think attachment to outcome is the main cause of strong emotions. If someone points a gun at your head and says, ok you need to make a winning trade within the next 30 minutes, 10 tick stop 30 tick profit target. If you fail I will pull the trigger. You can have a solid plan, but if you are...

    Looking for Futures Trading Mentor

I honestly think 80% of trading is psychology. Fear, anger, frustration and anxiety mess with your head. There are hundreds of ways to trade, but as long as you are a discretionary trader you must learn to deal with your emotions (not repress). If you are not familiar with trading psychology...

Ok just a couple of things I have heard on this post that are simply untrue. Firstly, the TST combines are not geared for scalping. Sounds like utter rubbish. Risk management is crucial with the combines, scalping is low variance and low risk so this is optimal for combines. It is harder if you...

Prop Trading Firms for Experienced Traders

Hi folks. So I know prop trading firms are very valuable for newer traders, because they offer training and mentoring, risk management and funding. What are some reasons an experienced trader would join a prop firm? Are they allowed to trade their own account there and keep all the profits, or...

    Intrinsic Value of Shares

Originally paper money was valuable because it could be exchanged for gold. Fiat currencies have always become worthless in every case of history. So if thats true shares are only worth money because people think they are, they don't really serve a function other than speculation. It's then...

    Intrinsic Value of Shares

Why do people buy shares, other on the fact they are betting on price fluctuation or holding for dividends? People buy oil to run their cars, people buy corn to feed cattle/human consumption etc. But if you weren't able to cash in your shares, why would they be valuable? Looking at Investopedia...

Why Do Most Retail Traders Favour Technical Analysis ?

Honestly I'm not that experienced, I'd say 6.5/10 for psychology because I have a very long way to go. My mental state during trading is not as consistent as I would like. But improving my psychology is what took me from being a losing trader to being able to manage consistent profits even...

What keeps a brokerage employee from shadowing your trades?

Paul rotter used multiple brokerages to build and reduce positions to mitigate this threat. He was proper big, 10% of daily bund volumes.

Why Do Most Retail Traders Favour Technical Analysis ?

the assumption the poster makes is that because retail traders favour technical analyses, that makes it garbage because most retail traders are losers. Tip - there are very big traders who use technical analyses, spreading techniques, systems trading, pure orderflow reading. There are also...

    Questions About Being A Trader

it's fine if you are trading only for money, the main point I am making is you should not be thinking about it whilst in the process of trading as you say. Although I am suspect to believe that money is the ONLY reason you are in trading. You are telling me that you find no enjoyment in it at...

Making A Killing In Index Futures

I am highly, highly doubtful changing markets will change anything. If you lost 50% of your account in a month you are not adhering to correct risk management. Have a daily loss limit, take less risk as you lose more. Review your trading, see if you are making any mistakes, getting into...

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

Thats completely irrelevant. Thats like having a trainee at a prop firm lose money for 9 months whilst hes still learning, and then on the 10th month maybe he makes up for 1 month of losses. And then you say, oh, ok then on average he is still losing a lot of money and that means he is going to...
