    Futures pit trading: which broker?

Condider a broker that has a clearing membership and their own people on those exchanges. I think a list of clearing members can be found on the exchange web sites. If your trading strategies require blitz execution in those markets, best of luck. These are pits and sometimes, especially...

    I messed up....

Perphaps was, and if customers have money transfered out of an account to unauthorized accounts, and it was the error of Etrade, I sure hope Etrade has made good on that. But for now, Etrade is the only broker I know of using RSA digital security IDs.

Todd, they are not giving you a line. Give them a call on Monday morning. Harrisdirect has a responsive support staff and if they can't help you right away, they will get someone on the phone to tell you exactly what you need to do to get where you want to be on the account. Thats better...

    Live Cattle February Technical Prediction

LCG6 is on the radar, but going into the Christmas season can spook the cattle market into rapid swings in either direction. Also Defered contracts just saw new highs. This is telling. Also, politics are going to play a hand as the U.S. Department of Agriculture now prepares to announce...

Top programmers still in Eastern Europe..

Overall, I really agree. "cross-discipline creativity" is the key. And it is this flexibility in the US system (especially in higher education) that gives big results, however you want to measure it -- money, recognition, innovation. However, its myopic and unfair to blindly trash...

Top programmers still in Eastern Europe..

You might have learned to code for bucks, but that does not mean you got an education. If so, you might read and think and be a bit more critical in your thinking and know that much of the leading edge software (sold to you and me and even running some firms and municipalities) is being...

    Soybeans - Long Term

Apex, you must be taking a long term view on this. I agree, and buying strategies after Christmas could reap mega rewards come August and September. Grains might finaly catch up with the rest of commodities. For now, though, they are low low low. Just look at Corn. But Corn can't go...

    New CTA Startup Question

There are many issues here that would raise red flags if you want to operate as a CTA. 1.) If this group is financing you and actively raising capital for your trading program, they would have to be registered with the NFA. However, if you limit the number of investors and capital raised you...

    Need a futures broker

A good IB will often provide a level of service that the FCM cannot for the smaller or newer trader. Some IB's also work with funds and larger traders due to relationships over time and a continuation of service they can offer. Think of an IB as a sales and serve arm of the FCM. If you do...

    Refco Account Security

Well....your "guess" could not be more wrong and far off the truth. Further no advice is given. Simply a musing of what some lawyer --looking for business --might do who is paid to protect the interests of a client under a body of existing law (written by more lawyers, creating an industry...

Huh? You must have some really deep issues. I said early Saturday morning, "What might happen however, is that the liabily of the parent company is now so high, and lawyers are circling, and customer flight so fast, the brokerge could die a rapid death. This will not be the first time such a...

    Futures question

There are not long term exchange traded continuous futures contracts as that would defeat the purpose of a futures contract. If going long a long dated futures contract and holding it for many months, you would be paying for the cost of carry -- likely more than the cost of rolling. Another...
