Negative CAD balance in IB account -- am I getting charged margin for it?

I will probably continue to trade the bonds so I'll just let the CAD debit sit there for awhile. Thanks for the info, I think it's been there for awhile but I never noticed it before. Now if I can only turn it positive.....

Why are there No Options on so many ETF?

No interest in them I guess....call the options industry council and ask for them.

Negative CAD balance in IB account -- am I getting charged margin for it?

My IB account shows a negative CAD balance of about $164 (from a loss trading canadian bond futures). Does this mean I'm being charged margin on this? If I am, do I just use IDEAL to buy $164 CAD to get out of margin? SSB

Weird IB error trying to trade Palladium on NYMEX

I'm trading a system that uses daily (end of day) data and every night I enter orders for the following day to only be live while the pits are trading. IB tells me via the ticket system nothing is wrong....if I had a nickel for every time they said nothing is wrong I wouldn't need to trade...

Weird IB error trying to trade Palladium on NYMEX

It's definitely the March 2007 expiration I'm choosing. I see 2 contracts have traded so far tonight, so someone is trading it. Just curious if anyone else is having this problem..... It's for an order with a good after time of tomorrow morning, so if anyone could try it and see if it's...

Weird IB error trying to trade Palladium on NYMEX

When I try to enter an order for Palladium on NYMEX for tomorrow (PAH7 - March 2007 expiry) I get the message: This contract can only be closed. I have plenty of margin and I have trading permissions. Does anyone know what's going on? I tried with TWS 865 and also 864.7, which I used...

    TWS Stop price disappears....

In the last few versions of TWS the stop price on the order ticket gets wiped out if you move to other tabs and change something. For example if you open a ticket for just about anything, pick an order type of STP, enter a stop price, then switch to the TIF tab and change from DAY to GTD, then...

    NPP builds a Emini system

Have any of you read "Smarter Trading" by Perry Kaufman? It's an old book but I just happen to be reading it now....it has quite a bit about system development that seems relevant here, especially stuff about using small periods of time to develop systems. As an amateur at this stuff I find it...

    Which broker to choose?

Note if you use IB -- if you do something stupid like change your wire instructions 10 times the same day they will restrict your account. And there are rules about transferring money in/out (ACH for example I think you can only send back to the same account for 45 days). These are for...

Automated trading must have....web power switch

I recently bought one of these web power switches: <img src="http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpcweb.jpg"> and it rocks. I leave my trading PC running all day with automated trading systems, and dual NIC cards connected to two routers, one for DSL the other for the cable modem...

    Tradebolt LLC

Just google for tradestation and interactive brokers, you don't need to use IB but it'll give you a idea what products can make the interface from TS to other brokers.

    Do you name your systems?

Thanks Pekelo. I'm always trying to look for alternative points of view, especially given that mine are very myopic....

    Do you name your systems?

Do you run them all, and let them enter/exit at will, or you do trade them based on your analysis, or based on a technical indicator. ALso just curious, what market(s) do you trade -- ES, NQ, ER2, etc.

    Do you name your systems?

I prefer more realistic names: MegaDrawdown UltraCurveFit and my personal favorite: BigMoneyLoser

Why do Index Futures Roll Over?

Odd Lots on Nasdaq with IB

Detection of orders meant to game the system shouldn't be that hard....supposedly banks have ways to detect people moving amounts just under the $10,000 limit.... Of course this officially confirms my worst fears that IB is constantly changing things on their end of the system without any...

    IB Odd lots

What's to become of the odd lot short index? Seriously, I'd think that if they don't want odd lotters flooding the system then why not impose some kind of cancellation fee for odd lot orders, to prevent people from playing games with 10 share lots. I'd be surprised if the SEC let them...
