    Newbie Question on Forex

Let me be the one-eyed to lead the blind: I believe spot means you buy and sell the currency itself right now (which is actually something like 2 business days from now), as opposed to futures contracts to deliver a currency at some predetermined future date (like at the end of the month).

    Case Studies in Options Trading

What I am thinking about is just buying a straddle, let's say long 100 calls and 100 puts at the same strike, and then keep the whole position delta-neutral buy buying and selling the underlying in 100-share lots. Is anyone here doing anything like this?

    Case Studies in Options Trading

I didn't know they let you write covered calls in an IRA. But let me guess whether you are allowed to write naked puts. And what exactly would be the reason for that? Exactly: Because the puts would not be covered. I would be more interested n gamma scalping. Is anyone here doing that...

    Indexes Overbought?

The spx can go from here to 1100 without ever retracing more than a percent or two. Or to 600.

That's the thing. I was in the same situation.

am i precise by calling it a patriotic rally?

I think you may or may not be right to call it a patriotic rally, but you are definitely not PRECISE. Technically, a rally is a price development phenomenon, which in and of itself cannot be patriotic.

    fastest execution at best price?

Like def said, your execution speed through IB will be determined by your connection speed to the internet. TMBR and ISLD are definitely under half a second, from the time you hit the key to the time you see the shares in your account, probably even faster, but I can't really look that fast...

I just wrote to NYSE Re: Direct+ rule change

The NYSE isn't all bad. The stock shown below is TGT, the marked order is where some idiot sold almost right at the (mini-)bottom. That idiot was me (hit the wrong key), but what you don't see is that my limit was 29.12. The day a mistake like this costs me .02 more than it did will be the...

    IB: backfilling quotes

NO! The faster and more frequently the quotes in TWS can update, the better. But backfill has no business slowing down IB's systems!

    critique my strategy

If you do 100 trades per day and are positive every day, I wouldn't worry about overtrading, commissions, or actually anything. The way I see it, the secrets to your success are points 4), 6), and 9). Regarding your comment in 8), I really don't think MMs have a lot of influence on NQ...

    IB login times

I tried to do my taxes last night, but couldn't log into any IB account (on the Account Login, not the Trading login!) It always gave me a 500. Today, I could log into my universal account, but not into my old commodities account. The 1099 is available only for the universal account (the...

Cheap 17" KOGi LCD at Best Buy... $299 AR

I believe this statement has been shown to be false by the above post about DELL. If it is true for BBY, then my initial return period must have expired within the first two months of the original purchase. I wonder if that is legal.

    anyone carrying positions this weekend???

long a little bit of GE and TGT, short a little BAC and PEP, but long PEP calls (I don't know if you call that a "ratio" spread or just plain stupid). And of course I still own 100 shares of THV from back when praetorian2 used to be so fond of them.

technicals and stochastics are pointing upward

In my view the most likely scenario is a 3-day wonder for right now. After that we will probably break lower. Of course, you never know if and when a military aggression will occur, so all out TA might not be that important these couple of weeks ... What concerns me is that the EUR/USD...

You have to be careful with the rebates at BBY though. I would just ignore them or at least assign them a probability of no more than 50% when making your decision. It happens a lot that you see the rebate advertised and you have to mail in the card, and a few months after that you get a...
