You guys who do VOLUME, why so much?

Strangely enough, I fail to see the point of this discussion. If you trade small and make money, then trade small. If you trade a lot and make money, then trade a lot. This discussion is just like one where one person is trying to convince another of what the current trend is. It is all...

    Needtoknownews

I haven't checked lately, but I think it is around $95 per month. They offer a 2-wk trial. I definitely recommend trying it since you can choose to listen to either equities or futures coverage. Go to: www.needtoknownews.com and get the trial to check for yourself. Different people might find it...

Technicals of Paul Rotter (The Flipper)'s strategy?

How do you know what his pit trader is doing? Are you subscribing to a treasury squawk service? Couldn't he use multiple brokers?

Section 107 & 108 of the 1976 United States Copyright Act

I have run into this before. In most cases, you have to contact the publisher and request [i]written consent[/u] to copy an excerpt from the book. They will want to know which sections you would want to refer to. The book will most likely have a copyright warning stating this and some contact...

    Winners / losers statistics

Hmmm.... now that is news to me. I would like to hear about a successful system that does not have a stop order and an exit plan. That is part of risk management. We can go in circles forever with the meaning of this term. The fact is: every system has losses. You have to manage these and be...

    Winners / losers statistics

This is a given. The idea is that you still have money left when you have figured that system out or when you find out that your system is no longer working. Again, focus on protecting the downside. Like Spike, you are making my point for me. A system doesn't pop out of thin air, it takes...

    Winners / losers statistics

Not likely. The biggest reason for failure is risk management.. period. This may mean taking small winners and many big losses. However, the average guy does not account for the fact that to win in this you have to always protect the down side first and the upside takes care of itself. This...

    Quad LCD Monitor Stands

I ended up going with the same one as Tboy911. I bought it from Pagecomputers.com. It is not the best quality and isn't as easy to adjust as the ergotrons. However, once you have it set up, then it does the job well. It is not recommended if you frequently adjust your setup.

    Dow Jones Industrial Average

The most heavily weighted component is United Technologies. The dow is nothing more than the sum of the latest prices divided by a divisor to get the cash value. So the stock with the highest price has the most influence. The divisor takes care of the rest. Go hear for complete details on...

    "Regrettably" . . .

I'm not much on analysis, but I would think that historically countries have gone broke going to war. This puts the quality of that country's debt in question. War temporarily enhances an economy and then later leads to higher deficits, inefficient use of resources and loss of human capital...

Let us review a winning strategy!!!

Wow.... I don't know where to start with this one. Based on my experience, an existing strategy is normally based on observation and a semi-sound logic. The problem is that an inexperienced trader will compromise the plan by holding on to losses too long and taking quick winners or he is too...

    max liability for futures trading

If it is a US broker, check for complaints with the NFA. Make sure he is registered with them. And get out of those 1200 contracts you are holding short at 948.25 in the ES. You should be fine and still positive in your account, but only if you follow my advice. :D

    max liability for futures trading

What do you mean by this? Futures are backed by the underlying product. They naturally have more risk because of leverage and margin. You can't trade a futures contract without margin. The DOW mini will have the same value of the 30 dow stocks underlying it plus interest minus dividends. If all...
