Well, the market is saying pause in trend. I haven't checked equities yet but wouldn't be surprised if they were down too. Got stopped out below 1.2020.

Missed the sale at .50. Bounced nicely off that.

My theory is that if it's as strong as I think it is, it's not letting anyone in easily. It's not like they are going to ring a bell. Looking to sell 3/4 around 1.2050. That would be midpoint between most recent lows and highs.

Added at .35. I would not want to be short this market (long USD), even if I'm wrong. If this thing keeps creeping up, gotta be some nervous shorts.

It's a small position, being that it's Asian session, Monday.

Looks a little different now. Now I'm thinking there might be some room to the upside. Still sitting on my hands.

Thinking about chop for Monday. Post NFP. Euro didn't react well to what should have been good news, but I'm reluctant to sell it. I'll be wary of breakouts, looking for a place to fade them. Another strong upmove taking out old high would negate my present thinking. I'm inclined to just wait...

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

The shark to fish ratio was much lower then.

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

You can do it in reverse, and it's a little bit easier to see. Go back to 1975, before personal computers, fax machines, modern diesel engines, and all the other stuff that's been invented since partly because of those things, and tell me how much the average company is worth. Now do it in 1920...

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

I'll take a stab at it. The industrial revolution, causing a massive rise in productivity, followed by the invention of the computer, now the hand held computer, causing another large rise in productivity. The period of the 70s, sort of in between both, was a period of stagnation overall.

What lessons did you learn in 2017 that improved your trading?

I notice too that I'm usually looking for two or three things in particular. One is panic or a group of traders who just got trapped by market movement-a pattern break. The other is if I feel that the market has moved in trend, but has left traders behind. Much more subjective. I'm constantly...

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

I do see the beginnings of hysteria in Bitcoin. It's similar to the dot.com bubble. I try to tell myself that that bubble ran for years, and every day you had people warning of the danger but their voice was drowned out by the party goers. Same with the housing bubble. Really you need to see...

So this was like trading in the late 90s?

I've been looking for years now for the typical signs of irrational behavior. Maybe because the investing is mostly done by proxy, it's harder for the public to get too excited. They will get their 401k and mutual fund statements for last year soon. Then we'll see. Also, pros have encouraged...

Now all we need is Alan Greenspan to make a cameo and proclaim the words "Irrational Exuberance"! Might make a great trading opportunity.

What lessons did you learn in 2017 that improved your trading?

I noticed that if I let go and became willing to miss opportunities, mostly everything became easier. I try to keep it in the day, the moment, and not take too seriously the trend at hand. This means taking good profits when my brain is telling me to hold on for more because obviously it's very...

Out, flat. Fabulous day. It's been awhile since I've been "On". Got kicked around with Cad early last night in Asia, since then smooth sailing.
